SCONA TPPL 1214 PA by BYK is a viscosity modifier for polylactic acid-based compounds to increase the melt strength and molecular weight during compounding and for improved processability of the material. It can be used as a coupling agent in polylactic acid-based compounds that are reinforced with wood and glass fibers, improving the mechanical properties. It also acts as a compatibilizer.
- It is a high-performance polymer modifier based on a polylactic acid (PLA) functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate.
- It is suitable for use in PLA-based compounds and bio-based polymers such as polybutylene succinate (PBS) and polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), extrusion and thermoforming applications.
- It can crosslink if it is not diluted with unmodified base polymer during melting.
- Recommended dosage level is 1-10% as viscosity modifier, 5-30% as compatibilizer and 2-6% as coupling agent.
- Complies with REACH.
- Shelf life of SCONA TPPL 1214 PA is 36 months.
