Surface Modifiers for Plastic Compounds

SILMAPROCESS AL2660 by Silma is a highly concentrated masterbatch of super-high molecular weight functionalized polysiloxane, finely and synergistically dispersed on LLDPE carrier.

• It is used in halogen-free compounds as a processing aid, improving viscosity and homogeneity.
• It acts as a flame-retardant synergist (L.O.I.) and smoke suppressant, while also eliminating surface defects and die drool.
• It works as a slipping agent, external lubricant, and releasing agent during cable extrusion.
• It improves mechanical properties and surface quality of the finished goods.
• It reduces melt viscosity during compounding, enhancing throughput, stability, compound homogeneity.
• SILMAPROCESS AL2660 reduces THR (Total Heat Release) and PHRR (Peak Heat Release Rate) in halogen-free compounds and serves as a scratch and abrasion resistance enhancer in polyolefin and rubber compounds.
• The recommended dosage for the processing aid is 0.5-1%, while for extrusion or injection molding processes is 0.5-5%.
• It has a shelf life of one year.

IP1211 by Ingenia is an antistatic and slip masterbatch. It is a proprietary compound of high purity glycerol monostearate (GMS) and erucamide in an LLDPE carrier resin. It is used as an internal additive to control surface resistivity on the surface of the film over an extended period of time, effectively reducing static cling and minimizing dust accumulation.

• The slip agent in the formulation causes a reduction in coefficient of friction occurs slowly after extrusion and lasts for a considerable length of time, as the erucamide will slowly but continuously migrate to the surface to replace the amount lost from the surface.
• It is designed for blown and cast film, LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE film applications.
• It does not require dispersion aids, waxes or stearates.
• IP1211 may be used to meet the requirements of Title 21 of the U.S. Federal Code of Regulations and CONEG.

INCIRCLE® IP1610 by Ingenia is a polymer modifier masterbatch. It is designed for modifying 100% LLDPE to provide similar heat shrink performance of LDPE/LLDPE blends, without sacrificing the mechanical properties. In combination with LLDPE, it offers improved bubble stability.

• It is recommended for blown- and cast film applications.
• It is free of animal-based ingredients.
• INCIRCLE® IP1610 meets the requirements of Title 21 of the U.S. FDA and CONEG.

SILMAPROCESS AY1142A by Silma is a slipping agent, external lubricant and surface modifier. It is used in SBS/SEBS/HIPS compounds as a processing aid, anti-scratch, abrasion-resistant and viscosity reducer. It is a masterbatch of high molecular weight siloxane gum on the HIPS carrier. It reduces the melt viscosity with benefits for the output, stability and compound homogeneity when used in the compounding process. It improves the surface quality and decreases the scraps of the final goods. It imparts impact resistance and ergonomic soft touch. During the compound/extrusion or injection molding, it is used simply mixed with the compound pellets. It is applicable in automotive profiles, shoe soles, utensil grips, hermetic seals and vibration dampening pads. The recommended dosage level is 2-10%. SILMAPROCESS AY1142A has a shelf life of one year.

SILIMER™ 5140 distributed by DKSH improves plastic processing and surface quality. It is a polyester modified silicone additive with good thermal stability. It is a long-chain polar functional group alkyl.

• It offers enhanced lubricity, efficiency, mold release, scratch- and wear resistance properties.
• It has a special structure, reduced surface friction coefficient, improve surface smoothness, no negative effect on the appearance and surface treatment of the product.
• It shows good compatibility with matrix resin.
• SILIMER™ 5140 is applicable in PE, PP, PVC, PMMA, PC, PBT, PA, PC/ABS, TPE and TPU.
• It is available in Europe.

WARADUR® OP distributed by DKSH is an ester wax consisting of esters of montanic acids with multihydroxyl alcohols. It acts as a nucleating-, release agent, flow improver, dispersing agent for color masterbatches and filled plastics (talc, glass fiber), gloss booster, surface improver.

• It is made from a fossil biological source.
• The corresponding esters in WARADUR® OP exhibit chain length in the range of C58-C66 and provide this wax with a low volatility, good thermostability and low migration rates.
• It is compatible with thermoplastics such as PA, PBT, TPE, PC, PVC, styrenics, thermosets such as epoxy resins, phenolic resins and polyurethane.
• The maximum shelf life is 5 years.
• It is available in Malaysia.

SILMAPROCESS AV1142A by Silma is a slipping agent, external lubricant and surface modifier. It is used in SBS/SEBS/TPV/EVA compounds as a processing aid, anti-scratch, abrasion-resistant and viscosity reducer. It is a masterbatch of high molecular weight siloxane gum on the EVA carrier. It reduces melt viscosity with benefits for output, stability and compound homogeneity when used in the compounding process. It improves surface quality and decreases scraps of the final goods. It imparts impact resistance and ergonomic soft touch. During the compound/extrusion or injection molding directly, it is used simply mixed with the compound pellets. It is applicable in automotive profiles, shoe soles, utensil grips, hermetic seals, vibration dampening pads. The recommended dosage level is 2-10%, depends on the needs. SILMAPROCESS AV1142A has a shelf life of one year.

SP-1068 distributed by DKSH is a thermoplastic resin made from octylphenol and formaldehyde. It is used to increase tack in natural rubber and synthetic elastomers, including SBR, BR, IIR and IR.

• It can be used as a stock additive to provide tackiness and is particularly useful in applications requiring strong bonds, especially with synthetic rubbers that may lack inherent tack needed for plied-up construction.
• It is suitable for tire building, for example, plies, tread stock, and sidewalls must hold fast to the green tire until it is vulcanized or cured into an integral unit.
• Recommended dosage level is 3-8 phr.
• SP-1068 has a shelf life of 1 year.
• It is available in Australia and New Zealand.

SILMAPROCESS AZ1142A by Silma is used in PBT compounds as a processing aid, anti-scratch, surface improver, viscosity and pressure reducer. It is a masterbatch of high molecular weight polysiloxane on PBT carrier. It also works as a slipping agent, external lubricant and surface modifier on PBT or PBT filled glass fibers. It reduces the melt viscosity with benefits for the output, stability and compound homogeneity when used in the extrusion process. It improves the surface quality of the finished goods and it decreases the scraps and the material deposits on the die. It gives abrasion resistance in automotive interiors, utensil grips, hermetic seals, impact-resistant ergonomic touch in electronic devices and better aesthetics properties of the surface through the increase of gloss and the elimination of corrugated defects. The recommended dosage level of SILMAPROCESS AZ1142A in compounding is 1-5%. It is used simply mixed with the compound pellets, during the compound extrusion or injection molding directly.

Hubercarb® M3PT by Huber Engineered Materials is a fine ground calcium carbonate-based filler. It acts as an extender, gloss control agent, anti-slip additive, rheology modifier and densifier.

• Produced from a uniform, high calcium limestone deposit in marble falls, Texas.
• Its particles are processed with a proprietary fatty acid-based surface treatment.
• Hubercarb® M3PT is recommended for pipes, conduit and PVC compound applications.
