CHARGUARD™ 2000 by Elementis is an organically modified mineral thickener. It is suitable for suitable for compounding in combination with fire retardants in low to intermediate polarity thermoplastic resin systems. It does not contain intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
- It enhances the effectiveness of non-halogenated and halogenated fire retardants by delaying the combustion process and stopping the spread of molten flame drip.
- It creates char layer oxygen barrier which is non-flammable and reduces the availability of combustible gases generated during thermal decomposition.
- It reduces the amount of smoke produced in a fire, which is a significant factor in improving fire safety and survivability.
- It is suitable for halogen-free flame retardant thermoplastic compounds such as ethylene-vinyl acetate co-polymer (EVA), low density polyethylene (LDPE), high impact styrene (HIPS), polypropylene (PP), polyamide (nylon 6) and polylactic acid (PLA).
- Recommended dosage level is 3.5%-5% as supplied based on total formulation weight.

It suitable for automotive cables due to the high level of thermal stabilizers and metal deactivator for the use in insulators at direct contact with red copper. It can be used for insulation class GXL of the norm SAE J 1127-1128 and class T3 (125°C temperature rate) of the norm ISO6722 and LV112. TPE and TPV modified with AP1130A for cables comply to norm UL1685. The recommended dosage level is 15-30%. SILMAFLAME AP1130A has a shelf life of one year.
