Omya Smartfill™ 55 - AV by Omya is a natural calcium carbonate with special surface modification. Exhibits excellent compatibility with engineering polymers such as polyamides (PA) and polycarbonate (PC) and does not cause hydrolysis in biopolymer extrusion. It improves the elongation and impact strength of polyamide (PA) due to an improved isotropy.
- Provides processing benefits which includes reduced warpage and improved surface finish in glass fiber compounds.
- Offers improved polycarbonate (PC) properties compared to conventional calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide with extra opacity.
- It increases polylactic acid (PLA) ductility and can be added to PHA/PHB at higher addition rates than other calcium carbonate grades.
- Omya Smartfill™ 55 - AV is made of 100% PIR (Post Industrial Recycled) calcium carbonate according to Bureau Veritas. The recycled status of this material does not affect suitability for use in contact-sensitive applications (like Food Contact/Food packaging).
