Petanoic acid, 3-hydroxy-, (3 R)-, polymer with (3R)-3-hydroxybutanoic acid from cupriavidus necator fermentation of D- Glucose and propionic acid. It is a PHBV thermoplastic resin. It is an off-white solid powder and has odorless to slightly sourish odor. It is insoluble in water and soluble in other solvents like chloroform, methylene chloride. The product degrades above 200 °C resulting in release of crotonic acid fumes after prolonged exposure. Can be used as a primary composition in the following applications : injection molding, thermoforming, blown films and extrusions.
