Plastics and elastomers for Food Packaging

Akulon® XS36-C1 (FC-X9224) by Envalior is a very high viscosity, lubricated, food contact polyamide 6 copolymer. It possesses a lower crystallization speed compared to PA6. It is suitable for processing by cast film extrusion. Akulon® XS36-C1 (FC-X9224) is used in biaxially oriented co-extrusion film applications and food packaging films for consumer goods.

Akulon® XS32-E2 (FC-X9200) by Envalior is a high-viscosity, food-contact polyamide 6 copolymer. It is nucleated and lubricated. It can be processed by cast film extrusion. Akulon® XS32-E2 (FC-X9200) is used in food packaging films for consumer goods.

Akulon® XS36-E2 (FC-X9201) by Envalior is a very high viscosity, food contact polyamide 6 copolymer. It is suitable for processing by cast film extrusion. It is nucleated and lubricated. It is used in food packaging films for consumer goods.

Arnitel® ECO M700 by Envalior is a high performance, non-reinforced, non-flame retardant, thermoplastic copolyester (TPC) compound, containing 22% renewable content. It shows good aesthetics, durability, good combination of flexibility, high temperature resistance up to 200°C and strength with excellent processing characteristics. This food contact quality grade provides stain-, chemical- and scratch resistance. It exhibits reduced environmental impact and system cost. It is processed by extrusion and injection molding. Arnitel® ECO M700 is used in smokable sausage casings, bio-based pan liners, cooking bag with extreme elasticity and soft touch & feel and snowboard cover laminates.

Makrolon® 1248 by Covestro is a medium viscosity polycarbonate (PC) grade. It exhibits easy release, high heat resistance, good toughness, good dimensional stability, high creep modulus and good electrical insulation properties. It provides high transparency and outstanding break resistance.

• Makrolon® 1248 is used in food contact applications like tableware, dinnerware, glasses, tumblers, institutional food trays, water bottles and water filter systems.

Luban HMA-016 by Orpic is a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) characterized by fast cycling and good impact strength. It has narrow molecular weight distribution and is suitable for processing by injection molding. It is suitable for recycling using modern methods of shredding and cleaning. Luban HMA-016 is recommended for closures, food packaging containers, housewares and toys. It meets the requirements of the U.S. FDA 21 CFR 177.1520.

Luban DMDA-8007 by Orpic is a narrow molecular weight distribution high-density polyethylene (HDPE) homopolymer. It offers excellent stiffness, low warpage, good toughness and good moldability. It exhibits excellent warp resistance, high modulus, gloss and low odor. It is suitable for processing by injection molding and cast film extrusion. Luban DMDA-8007 is designed for crates, cases, trays, tote bins, caps and closures for beverages. It is suitable for recycling using modern methods of shredding and cleaning. It meets the requirements of the U.S. FDA 21 CFR 177.1520.

Pro-Fax EP648R by LyondellBasell is an anti-static, nucleated polypropylene (PP) impact copolymer. It offers medium impact resistance, good mold release and excellent stiffness. It is suitable for processing by injection molding. It works on advanced nucleation technology to boost rigidity while maintaining toughness. It is used in garden furniture, crates, lids, pails, caps & closures and thin-walled packaging. Pro-Fax EP648R is recommended for rigid food packaging, consumer goods, appliances and industrial sectors.

Styrolution® PS 158K BC100 by INEOS Styrolution (INEOS Group) is polystyrene (PS) grade. It is made from 100% bio-attributed renewable feedstock, based on a mass balance process certified under ISCC PLUS certification. It offers outstanding heat resistance and clarity, maintaining both the quality and the visual appeal.

• It achieves an impressive 172% reduction in carbon emissions when compared to traditional fossil-based polystyrene.
• Styrolution® PS 158K BC100 is designed for food packaging such as trays.
• Complies with global food contact regulations including the Japanese Food Sanitation Act, and has received JCII’s A certification.

Sipchem LD 2023 by Sipchem is a moisture resistant, low density, polyethylene (LDPE) grade produced using an Exxon-Mobil high-pressure tubular process. Exhibits good balance of optical & mechanical properties, good chemical resistance & barrier properties. It is insoluble in water & slightly soluble in hydrocarbon solvents. Can be processed using compounding, injection molding and cast film extrusion. Sipchem LD 2023 by Sipchem is recommended for blending applications, foam, food packaging, form fill and seal packaging, freezer film, lamination film, light duty shrink film, liners, mail bag, produce bags, shoppers and textile packaging. Complies with CLP Regulation 1272/2008/EC, REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 and GHS.
