Senior Global R&D/TS&D Director Dow Coating Materials, Performance Monomers and Plastics Additives

Biography

Tracy Young is the Senior Global R&D/TS&D Director responsible for leading R&D innovation for product, process, and application research for Dow Coating Materials, Performance Monomers, and Plastics Additives. She leads global TS&D to expand market-focused innovation and build strategic customer partnerships across architectural coatings, industrial coatings, and plastic additives. Young is a member of Dow’s R&D Leadership Team. Prior to this role, Young was the Global R&D/TS&D Director for Construction Chemicals, doubling the innovation portfolio from 2018-2021 by advancing market-driven solutions for roofing, flooring, walls, and infrastructure across acrylics, cellulose ethers, latex powders, silicones, polyurethanes, and hybrids. From 2016 to 2018, Young was the Core R&D Program Director for the Consumer and Infrastructure Solutions Division, responsible for corporate research for breakthrough innovation. From 2009 to 2016, Young was the Growth R&D Director for Dow Water and Process Solutions, leading new business development for mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and strategic alliances. She has been an active member of the American Institute of Chemicals Engineers, serving as a society chair for ten years and currently a member of the Institute for Sustainability and International Congress on Sustainable Science and Engineering. She is a member of the Society of Biography Dow Midland, Michigan Women Engineers, receiving the 2021 leadership award for advancing women in engineering. Young received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Michigan State University and executive leadership programs with Dartmouth-Smith College and Michigan State University Eli Broad school of business.
