Dr. Daniel Suckley grew up in the United Kingdom. He Graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 1999 with a BSc (hons) in Applied Chemistry. He continued his studies at UMIST university in Manchester, UK (now formally known as the University of Manchester) from 1999 – 2004 where he completed a Master degree in Polymer Science and Technology and a research doctorate in High-resilience Polyurethane foam which was funded by the Shell Technology Centre in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium.
After graduation, he worked for three years as a research chemist at Incorez Ltd, where he developed water-based polyurethane dispersions and waterborne epoxy curing agents. In June 2008, he commenced working at Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Ltd (Advanced Materials), based in Rayong, Thailand. He is currently general manager of the application development centre, civil and coatings section. During his time there, he has overseen the development and commercialization of a number of water-based epoxy products, including resin dispersions and aqueous curing agents, for use in self-leveling flooring, protective coatings, baking enamels and glass fiber sizing.
Further developments include a number of solid Epoxy resins, both conventional epoxy and BPA-free for use in metallic food packing, powder coatings with high temperature resistance for use in the pipeline industry and a series of solvent-free hardeners for use in various construction applications.
