Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K30)

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K30) by Maian is a water-soluble polymer composed of vinylpyrrolidone chains that acts as an antiseptic, ligand, emulsion stabilizer, film former, and hair fixer. It exhibits useful newtonian viscosity in dilute aqueous solutions due to intermolecular interactions and forms hydrogen bonds with water, enhancing its functional properties. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K30) absorbs up to 18% of its weight in moisture from the air and provides excellent humidification properties. It is used in cosmetic applications such as hair gel, sunscreen, toothpaste, deodorant, lipstick, and shampoo.
