Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose. Methocel™ 40-202 by IFF's Nutrition & Biosciences acts as a binder, film former, lubricant, suspension aid, lather enhancer, stabilizer, gelling agent, emulsion stabilizer and dispersant. It aids dispersion by forming protective, light & non-greasy films around particles to prevent coalescence and agglomeration. It delivers luxurious foam and stabilization to a variety of cleansing products. It offers interfacial thermal gelation & humectancy and improves product shelf-life & texture. It can be combined with xanthan gum or inorganic thickeners to achieve suspension capabilities. Moreover, it is suitable for low surfactant and mild systems. Methocel™ 40-202 finds application in formulating lotions, creams, facial masks, shampoos, styling gels, liquid hand soaps, hair styling mousses, shaving creams & foams, sulfate-free cleansers, make-up and sun care products.
