Ethylcellulose. ETHOCEL™ by IFF's Nutrition & Biosciences acts a binder, thickener and film former. It includes a range of polymers, derived from the naturally occurring polymer ‘cellulose’ and repeating anhydroglucoose units. It exhibits broad compatibility with a wide range of oils. It yields a strong, flexible film at low concentration. ETHOCEL™ is available in different viscosities, according to the requirement of the finished formulation. It provides strong water resistance. It is used to mask or control the release of active ingredients. It finds applications in perfumes, hair treatments, body creams (waterproof sunscreens), lipsticks, oil-based cosmetics like sun-care oils, massage oil and ointments.
