Polyepsilon-lysine. Supershield EPL 100 by Ecoori is a safe, broad-spectrum preservative. It is effective against gram-positive- & gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, molds and viruses. It consists of poly-e-lysine, a naturally occurring homopolyamide containing 25-35 L-lysine residues, produced by bacterial fermentation of streptomyces albulus under aerobic conditions. It is digested, broken down into lysine in the human body and is absorbed without causing any side effect. Supershield EPL 100 is suitable for a variety of personal care applications such as cosmetics and soaps. This ingredient is biodegradable and non-toxic towards humans. It is FDA approved. The shelf life is 24 months.
