Chitosan. HYDAMER™ HCMF by Chitinor (Seagarden) is a cationic film former and fixative agent. It is derived from marine shrimp shells through partial deacetylation of chitin. It exhibits excellent repair effects on hair. It gives hair the additional strength it needs, coating individual strands with a flexible, homogeneous, non-flaking film for perfect styling and protection from external factors. Moreover, it is free from preservatives, antioxidants and solvents. It forms a flexible, homogeneous and non-cracking free film at low concentrations that allows styling without dandruff effect and gives natural flexible hold and elasticity without added heaviness. It reduces split ends and possesses no build-up effect & it is easily washed out. This ingredient has low sensitivity to atmospheric moisture which makes it especially beneficial for all-weather styling products. It also helps to reduce electrostatic charge that causes the fly-away hair effect. It is compatible with alcohol (<60%), other polymers, propellants, salts, amphoteric, non-ionic and cationic surfactants. This readily biodegradable & environmentally friendly ingredient has extraordinary skin compatibility. HYDAMER™ HCMF finds application in formulating hair setting & gels, styling mousses & creams, curl retention, hair-tip fluids, antidandruff preparations, hair tonics and conditioners.
