Acrylic Acid/VP Crosspolymer. Ultrathix™ P-100 polymer by Ashland acts as a film former, fixative & styling polymer and rheology modifier. It is a lightly cross-linked copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone and acrylic acid.
  • It can create a sprayable polyelectrolyte matrix when formulated with linear, high molecular weight cationic or pseudocationic polymers.
  • It is compatible with a wide range of non-ionic, anionic and certain cationic ingredients.
  • In hair styling products, it provides excellent humidity resistance, low tack, and viscosity/texture enhancement to formulations.
  • It is also ideal for use in extreme pH products, such as hair colors, usually formulated into the peroxide developer.
  • Exhibits shear thinning rheology modifier with high yield value, film-former with styling benefits, long-term, humidity resistant hold benefit, no flaking on hair and easy dispersal & spreadability.
  • When used in skin & sun care products, it forms dry, smooth film on skin and provides water resistance.
  • It is used in gels, waxes, mousses, pomades, styling sprays (aerosol & non-aerosol), styling lotions/creams, novelty stylers, body care, color cosmetics, facial care, after-sun, self-tanning and sunscreen applications.
  • Ultrathix™ P-100 polymer is suitable for leave-on skin care and offers emulsion stabilization.
