What is MYRISTYL LACTATE used for?

Myristyl Lactate has amazing beneficial properties that not only benefit the skin and hair but also the product that it is added to.
  • Decorative cosmetics: Myristyl Lactate improves the spreadability and feel of cosmetic products, providing a silky, smooth finish. It is an excellent texture enhancer commonly added to foundations, lipsticks, and creams
  • Skin care: In skin care, Myristyl Lactate acts as an emollient, moisturizing and softening the skin. It helps to reduce dryness and flakiness by forming a protective barrier, locking in moisture. This makes it an ideal ingredient in lotions, creams, and serums for smoother, more hydrated skin
  • Hair care: Myristyl Lactate conditions and smoothens the hair shaft, reducing frizz and improving manageability. It provides a lightweight, non-greasy texture that enhances shine and softness

Origin

Myristyl Lactate is synthesized through esterification, a chemical reaction between myristyl alcohol and lactic acid. The process typically involves heating the reactants in the presence of an acid catalyst to facilitate the formation of the ester bond. The reaction mixture is then purified to remove any unreacted starting materials and byproducts, resulting in the final product, Myristyl Lactate.
