Origin

Ethylhexyl Polyhydroxystearate is produced synthetically by esterification of polyhydroxystearic acid (polymerized 12-hydroxystearic acid from castor oil-derived sources) with 2-ethylhexanol. The process creates a highly structured, comb-shaped polymer ester. While the base materials (castor oil-derived) are vegetable-sourced, the final product is fully synthetic with excellent stability. It is biodegradable and often palm-free or sustainably sourced in commercial grades.
