It is a clear, colorless yellowish liquid with a low characteristic odor. It helps to form stable emulsions without co-emulsifiers. It is a silicone emulsifier that helps water and silicone oils to mix nicely together.

Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone is used in cosmetic oils and lotions. It has excellent stabilization capability; it is cold-processable and makes the skin feel light.

  • Skin care: It acts as a conditioning agent and emulsifier. As a silicone, it provides emolliency, water-binding properties, and silky touch to the skin. It keeps the water and oil parts of an emulsion from separating and possesses a great trapping capacity that enables it to prolong the release of active molecules, particularly pigmented ones. It gives the skin a silky smooth feel and eliminates tackiness. It is found in facial moisturizers, foundation, concealer, sunscreen, lipstick, blush, etc.
  • Hair care: It conditions the hair and smoothens it.

Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone is the copolymer obtained after reacting cetyl dimethicone and an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone containing an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of propylene oxide.
