KBM-803

KBM-803 by Shin-Etsu acts as a coupling agent. Its individual molecules contain mercapto functional group and methoxy group characterized by different reactivity. It bonds organic material to inorganic material. KBM-803 is typically used in the form of a dilute aqueous solution. It is very effective with sulfur cross-linked EPM, urethane and polysulfide. Also effective with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), phenolic, epoxy, polyethylene, polypropylene, peroxide cross-linked EPDM, polystyrene, nitrile rubber, neoprene rubber, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), epichlorohydrin rubber and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). When it is used for surface treating an inorganic material to promote adhesion between the inorganic material and an organic material, it acts by forming chemical bonds with resins, hydrogen bonding with resins and improving the wettability as well as miscibility of resins. Used to make highly weatherable paints. KBM-803 is also used as a raw material for hard-coat materials.

METOLOSE® Hi90SH-4000

METOLOSE® Hi90SH-4000 by Shin-Etsu is a nonionic hydroxypropylmethylcellulose surface-treated with a little glyoxal. Used as rheology modifier in in spray paints. The aqueous solution functions as a protective colloid agent, emulsion stabilizer, foam stabilizer, and dispersant. Provides strong, flexible and transparent film with a good barrier property against oil and grease. METOLOSE® Hi90SH-4000 offers low ash content, resistance to salting out, pH stability and high water retention.
