It is a chemically inert, inorganic mineral extracted from mines and refined into several granulometric ranges. It is incompatible with Strong alkalis, hydrofluoridric acid, potent oxidizers. Quartz increases abrasion resistance, friction coefficient and provides texture. Suitable for varnishes.

It is obtained through the reaction of calcium chloride solution and sodium carbonate solution or through the passage of carbon dioxide by a light suspension of milk of lime. Calcium Carbonate Precipitate is incompatible with acids and ammonium salts.
