Octa-Soligen® 146

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cobalt, calcium, lithium carboxylates in mixture dissolved in white-spirit containing less than 1% aromatics. Acts as a combination drier. Its balanced metal content ensures uniform drying of the paint film. As it has low cobalt content, it keeps the film open long time to ensure optimum through-drying and to improve the hardness of the paint film. Suitable for use in alkyd and polyurethane coatings. Recommended for high-solids systems. Ideal for use in pale-colored formulations. Application includes wood and general industrial coatings. Dosage rate lies within 3 and 5 %, calculated on the solid binder content.

Octa-Soligen® Cobalt 10

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cobalt bis(2-ethylhexanoate) (50-70%). Acts as a primary drier. Exhibits catalysis of redox reactions and even small additions result in the dissociation of autoxidant hydroperoxides up to a change in valency from Co2+ to Co3+. It results in rapid surface drying and, in combination with a secondary drier such as Zirconium, barium or zinc, uniform through-drying of the paint film. Used in all oxidative systems, whether air-or force-drying solventborne systems. Applications include architectural paints, industrial coatings, stains, varnishes, oil-based inks and artists' colors based on alkyd resins. Complies with FDA.

Octa-Soligen® 141 Z

by Borchers (Milliken)

Mixture of cobalt, calcium, zinc, zirconium carboxylates in white-spirit. Acts as a combination drier. Offers high reactivity and requires only a low dosage. Provides homogeneous- and even drying and improves hardness of the paint film at the same time. A strong decrease of discoloration is caused by cobalt. Allows evaporation of the solvents. Forms a lead-free drier system with good drying characteristics in medium and long-oil alkyd resins. Highly recommended for use in solvent-borne wood coatings and general industrial coatings.

Octa-Soligen® Barium 12.5

by Borchers (Milliken)

Barium. Offers good pigment wetting properties. Improves gloss and prevents adsorption.
Borchers

Octa-Soligen® 144 aqua

by Borchers (Milliken)

Zinc, zirconium, cobalt carboxylates in mixture dissolved in paraffinic mineral oil (C14-18). Acts as a combination drier. The metal synergies in the product allow keeping the cobalt content to a minimum, thus reducing discoloration and yellowing. Offers easy incorporation. Recommended for water borne coatings based on medium- and long-oil alkyds. Can be used in drying light colored paints. Application includes wood and general industrial coatings. Recommended dosage rate is 4 to 7 % calculated on solid binder.

Octa-Soligen® Calcium 7 HS neutral

by Borchers (Milliken)

Calcium carboxylate (basic) dissolved in white-spirit. Acts as an auxiliary drier. Prevents adsorption of the primary driers at the surface of the pigments and stabilizes the drying power. Calcium has no drying effect on binders that dry by oxidation. Improves pigment wetting and film gloss. It is used solely in combination with primary driers such as cobalt and manganese and secondary driers such as zirconium and yields synergistic effects. Used in VOC-reduced and high-solid coating systems based on alkyds and epoxy esters that dry by oxidation. Highly recommended for wood coatings and general industrial coatings.

Octa-Soligen® 203

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cobalt, barium and zinc carboxylates in mixture dissolved in white-spirit containing less than 2% aromatics. Acts as a combination drier. It is of low viscosity, readily meterable and has a long shelf-life. Cobalt effects rapid surface drying. In conjunction with cobalt, barium improves through-drying. At the same time, it prevents the adsorption of primary drier, thereby increasing drier stability during long-term storage. Zinc prolongs the open time of the paint film, thereby promoting uniform through-drying and preventing wrinkling and skinning. The balanced ratio of the various metal contents of Octa-Soligen® 203 yields optimum results in respect of initial- and through-drying. As a result of the wetting action of the barium, this drier possesses excellent drier stability, rendering use of additional drier stabilizers unnecessary except in the case of critical pigment systems. Paints incorporated with it are characterized by better drying times even under adverse atmospheric conditions. Cloudiness and precipitation do not occur. Can be used in all binder systems which dry by oxidation and is particularly suitable for white and light-colored paints. Recommended dosage rate lies within 2 and 5 % relative to solid binder, depending on the binder and the pigment system.

Octa-Soligen® 69 HS

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cobalt and zirconium carboxylates in mixture dissolved in white-spirit containing less than 2% aromatics. Acts as a combination drier. It is of low-viscosity, VOC-reduced, readily meterable and lead-free. Cobalt attributes to rapid surface drying while zirconium functions as an active auxiliary drier, promoting through-drying. The balanced ratio of the metals cobalt and zirconium in Octa-Soligen® 69 yields optimum results in respect of initial- and through-drying. Cloudiness and precipitation do not occur. Can be used in all binder systems which dry by oxidation and is particularly suitable for white and light-colored paints. Particularly recommended for high-solid coating systems. Application includes wood and general industrial coatings. Dosage rate lies within 0.25 and 1.00% relative to the solid binder, depending on the binder and the pigment system. This is equivalent to a cobalt content of 0.015 to 0.060 %. Metal salts are approved for food contact as per FDA CFR 21: § 175.300 (b)(3)(xxii).
Borchers

Octa-Soligen® Cerium 8 HS

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cerium. Improves the through-drying and polymerization. Offers increased chemical resistance.
Borchers

Octa-Soligen® 155

by Borchers (Milliken)

Cobalt, calcium and zirconium carboxylates in mixture dissolved in white-spirit containing less than 1% aromatics. Acts as a combination drier. The synergy between the different metals ensures uniform drying of the paint film. The primary drier yields optimum surface drying whereas the secondary drier improves through-drying. This improves the hardness of the paint film. Suitable for use in all types of solvent borne system based on medium-oil and long-oil alkyds that dry by oxidation. Application includes wood and general industrial coatings. Recommended dosage rate lies within 3 and 6 %.
