Ethyltetrahydrofurfuryl ether (ETE)
Supplied byPennakem- Last Updated on Nov 26, 2024
Ethyltetrahydrofurfuryl ether (ETE). Acts as a strong aprotic polar solvent with limited miscibility with water. ETE is a bidentate coordinating ether that dramatically affects organolithium structures and reactivities. ETE is especially useful in controlling the structure of polymers produced from anionic polymerization of dienes (butadiene, isoprene), styrene-diene copolymers, hydrogenated styrene-butadiene block copolymers and liquid polybutadienes. In these systems, ETE is used as a modifier for the organolithium catalyst to increase the level of 1,2-microsturcture (vinyl structure) in the polyene. It is a colorless liquid with an ether like odor. Used in coatings and paint strippers.
