Berol® 185 by Nouryon acts as a compatibilizer, wetting and dispersion agent. It is an ethoxylated and propoxylated, nonionic surfactant based on a blend of fatty alcohols. It is a non-toxic, readily biodegradable ((EC) No. 1272/2008), easy to handle and non-label & non-irritant product (1999/45/EC and EC 1272/2008). It is present as a clear liquid that exhibits hydrophilic (water soluble) character and good foam control. Offers improved paint stability, increased paint gloss, improved freeze-thaw stability, very low content of VOC (volatile organic compound) and color acceptance properties. Compatible with all other surfactant types, i.e. nonionic, anionic and cationic. Stable under alkaline and acidic conditions. Suitable for water-borne paints. When used in a white base paint, the starting recommendation for dosage is 0.3%, based on the total weight of the paint. Berol® 185 is recommended to be added in grind to facilitate improved wetting and distribution of various surface active ingredients on the pigments.
