Preventol® DBC by LANXESS is a universal, in-can preservative. It is a light-colored, aqueous dispersion of the biocidal active ingredients dibromodicyanobutane (DBDCB) and two isothiazolinones, BIT and CMIT/MIT [3:1]. It offers broad spectrum of activity against bacteria, mold, fungi and yeasts. It provides alkaline stability up to pH 9 & thermal stability up to 55°C. It is formaldehyde-free grade. It contains no organic solvents or VOCs. Therefore, this preservative is particularly suited to applications in which products with a low or zero VOC content are to be protected, e.g. low-emission interior paints. The optimized ratio allows to use this combination for products in accordance to ecolabel for paints and varnishes. It is used in aqueous coatings. The shelf life of Preventol® DBC is 1 year.
