BIOBAN™ CS-1246

BIOBAN™ CS-1246 by LANXESS is a broad-spectrum bactericide based on oxazolidine (1-aza-3,7-dioxa-5-ethylbicyclo (3.3.0) octane) chemistry. It is used as an in-can preservative. Prevents bacterial degradation in these systems which often result in gas production, off-odors, changes in color and loss of viscosity and film forming properties. It does not contain any metallic or halogenated compounds, or any organic derivatives of sulfur, boron, or phosphorus. Compatible with a wide range of formulation raw materials. It has low odor and is readily incorporated into soluble oil, semisynthetic and synthetic metalworking fluid systems. It does not increase detectable formaldehyde in vapor phase/airspace. BIOBAN™ CS-1246 offers good handling characteristics, including a low freezing point and very good thermal stability. It is used for water-based coatings and inks.
