2-HEA by Kowa is a hydroxy functional acrylic monomer. It is also used as crosslinking agent and rheology modifier. It can be used to attach hydroxy groups to an acrylic polymer backbone. It allows faster curing cycles and reduced baking temperatures as compared with hydroxyalkyl methacrylates. It imparts weather-, scratch- and chemical resistance. 2-HEA can be formulated at higher solids in coating applications. It is used for UV inkjet inks, plastics and other flexible substrates coatings.
