Phthalate ester of higher alcohol. It acts as a plasticizer. It is almost colorless and odorless oily liquid, free of foreign materials which is slightly soluble in water but soluble in alcohols, hexane etc. It has been developed to fulfill the need for an economical plasticizer in formulation which require very low volatility and good permanence characteristics. It is used in non-polymer application including anticorrosion paints, antifouling paints, lacquers and inks.
