CHITOSAN Lw

Supplied byChitelix- Last Updated on Jun 29, 2026

CHITOSAN Lw by Chitelix is a biopolymer derived from the deacetylation of chitin, characterized by free primary amino groups (–NH₂) along its backbone that confer strong film-forming capability and surface adhesion. It is a natural polysaccharide obtained through the deacetylation of chitin derived from marine crustacean shells. It is produced through a sustainable circular approach.
  • CHITOSAN Lw is characterized by enhanced solubility, low viscosity, and high reactivity, enabling efficient performance in formulations.
  • Its films exhibit excellent oxygen and moisture barrier properties, relevant to anti-corrosion and protective surface coatings.
  • The cationic nature of chitosan (due to protonated –NH₂ groups at slightly acidic pH) enables electrostatic interaction with negatively charged microbial cell membranes, making it a well-documented active ingredient in antimicrobial surface coatings for medical devices, food contact surfaces, and industrial applications.
