BYK® -4510

Supplied byBYK- Last Updated on Jul 10, 2024

BYK® -4510 by BYK acts as an adhesion promoter for solvent-borne and aqueous systems on metallic substrates and glass. It is a solution of a hydroxy-functional copolymer with acidic groups. It improves adhesion on steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and even glass.
  • It reacts with melamine resins and polyisocyanates and is thus incorporated into the polymer matrix.
  • It is compatible with most binders and can therefore be applied universally.
  • It can improve flexibility without reducing hardness.
  • It can furthermore reduce the settling of inorganic pigments and fillers.
  • Storage stability of the paints, recoatability, and weather resistance has no negative effect.
  • It is stable even at high baking temperatures (briefly up to 280 °C) and does not cause yellowing.
  • It is suitable for baking systems and two-pack polyurethane systems.
  • It is used in industrial, coil (on galvanized steel) and protective coatings.
  • It has recommended dosage level is 1-5% additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation.
  • It complies with REACH and is listed in EINECS, TSCA, DSL, AICS, PICCS, IECSC, ENCS, NZIoC and ECSI inventories.
  • BYK® -4510 has a shelf life of 36 months.
