Efka® PL 4720 by BASF is a high molecular weight acrylic dispersing agent prepared using controlled free radical polymerization (CFRP) technology. It is designed to stabilize both treated and untreated silica-based matting agents.
  • It is an acrylic block copolymer with pigment-affinic groups.
  • It supports the development of ultra-matte, solvent-free UV coating formulations.
  • It enables strong viscosity reduction, high matting efficiency, broad resin compatibility, and improved formulation stability.
  • It delivers excellent stabilization of silica-based matting agents, even at very high matting agent concentrations.
  • It helps achieve ultra-matte performance with low viscosity and low gloss while maintaining stability and processability.
  • It is designed for 100% solvent-free radiation-curing coating systems.
  • Its typical applications include industrial coatings, furniture finishes, flooring finishes, and 3C coatings.
  • Efka® PL 4720 has a recommended dosage of 5–10% active additive based on the matting agent.
