Efka® PA 4401

Supplied byBASF- Last Updated on Jun 15, 2026

Efka® PA 4401 by BASF is a high molecular weight dispersing agent. It is a modified polyurethane for stabilizing inorganic and organic pigments with strong viscosity depressing properties. It provides high color strength while improving gloss, DOI, and flooding resistance.
  • It offers broad compatibility across low- to high-polarity systems, including nitrocellulose formulations.
  • It has a tendency to yellow and gel when combined with chlorinated polymers and solvent-free epoxies.
  • Efka® PA 4401 is recommended for high-quality solvent-based industrial coatings including automotive topcoats and pigment concentrates.
  • The recommended dosage is 10% of the oil absorption value for inorganic pigments, 25–50% of the BET surface area for organic pigments, and 20% of the DBP absorption value for carbon blacks.
