Klucel™ MS by Ashland is a new grade of hydroxypropyl cellulose functioning as a thickener and anti-sagging agent for inorganic zinc-rich primers. It provides rapid dissolution in polar organic solvents such as methanol, isopropyl alcohol, and xylene.
- It has improved thickening efficiency, enables smooth and clear solutions due to solubility in water and multiple polar organic solvents.
- It is used in permanent inorganic zinc-rich primers and temporary inorganic zinc “shop” primers applied to ship panels prior to welding.
- It also supports corrosion-protective zinc-rich primer systems containing silicate binders and high zinc levels.
