All Toughening Agents for Coatings and Inks

B-Tough™ C2r by Cargill is a VOC-free, reactive epoxy functional toughening agent. It is a low viscous, non-migratory additive which is easy to handle and to formulate with. It offers good chemical resistance and excellent impact resistance, while absorbing mechanical stress without impacting hardness.

• It allows for the formulation of zero to low VOC epoxy coatings with the flexibility of a solid epoxy (1001 type) resin-based system and the hardness of a liquid epoxy (828 type) resin-based system.
• B-Tough™ C2r is suitable for indoor floor-, industrial-, marine and protective coatings.

LS-AGE distributed by DKSH is a diluting agent and toughener. It is recommended for epoxy floor coating and diluting the epoxy coating of food grade. It can be combined with liquid epoxy resin. It has a shelf life of 1 year. LS-AGE is available only in Europe and Asia/Pacific.

Hypro® 1300X35 ATBN by Huntsman is an amine terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer. Its amine structure is based on N-aminoethylpiperazine (N-AEP). This reactive polymer is a 100% solid liquid rubber which is used to improve the adhesion, toughness, flexibility and impact resistance of thermoset resin systems including epoxies, vinyl esters, unsaturated polyesters, acrylics as well as urethanes. It also increases low-temperature mechanical properties.

• Hypro® 1300X35 ATBN is used predominately with other amine functional compounds to improve product performance when added to thermoset resin systems.
• It is suitable for construction, industrial, and transportation coatings, including concrete floor coatings, protective/maintenance coatings, aerospace coatings, and automotive/transportation OEM coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 180 days.

Hypro® 1300X45 ATBN by Huntsman is an amine terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer. It provides hydrophobicity. Its amine structure is based on N-aminoethylpiperazine (N-AEP). This reactive polymer is a 100% solid liquid rubber which is used to improve the adhesion, toughness, flexibility and impact resistance of thermoset resin system including vinyl esters, unsaturated polyesters, acrylics as well as urethanes.

• It also increases low-temperature mechanical properties as well as crack resistance.
• It is used predominately with other amine functional compounds to improve product performance when added to thermoset resin systems.
• It is used in coatings including automotive, construction, electrical and industrial applications.
• Hypro® 1300X45 ATBN has a shelf life of 6 months.

Hypro® 2000X168 VTB US by Huntsman is a low-molecular-weight, methacrylate-functional liquid synthetic rubber. It is a 100% solids reactive polymer used primarily as an additive in coatings. It is designed to enhance toughness, flexibility, adhesion, and impact resistance in thermoset resin systems. Hypro® 2000X168 VTB US has a shelf life of 180 days.

Hypro® 1300X33LC VTBNX by Huntsman is methacrylate terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer. It has a longer shelf life than the standard version. It is a low-molecular-weight, liquid rubber and a 100%-solids reactive polymer.

• It provides improved adhesion, toughness, flexibility, low-temperature properties, and impact resistance.
• It is an improved, lower-color version and has key properties of standard version such as curing via free radicals, is multifunctional and has optimum balance of butadiene and acrylonitrile.
• Hypro® 1300X33LC VTBNX is most commonly used in coatings.

Hypro® 1300X31 CTBN by Huntsman is a carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile (CTBN) reactive liquid polymer (RLP), a 100% liquid rubber used to improve toughness, flexibility, and impact resistance. It is used predominantly as a reactant with a base thermoset resin to gain product performance improvements.

• The resulting adducts can be incorporated at various levels in solution, powder, and waterborne coatings to suit specific formulation requirements.
• It improves adhesion to substrates that are difficult to bond to, increases impact and crack resistance, and improves durability through enhanced fatigue resistance.
• Hypro® 1300X31 CTBN also increases low-temperature mechanical properties, provides hydrophobicity, and offers the lowest acrylonitrile-containing CTBN.

HYPOX® RA1340 by Huntsman is a reactive toughener and flexibilizer. It is an adduct of the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and butadiene-acrylonitrile (CTBN) elastomer. It possesses high viscosity and is compatible with all standard bis-A epoxy resins and curing agents. HYPOX® RA1340 is used in impact resistance coatings.

Hypro® 1300X13 CTBN by Huntsman is 100% solids, carboxyl terminated butadiene- acrylonitrile copolymer. It is used to improve the toughness, flexibility and impact resistance of thermoset resin system including epoxies, vinyl esters, unsaturated polyesters, acrylics as well as urethane.

• It increases low temperature mechanical properties, improves durability (fatigue resistance) and improves adhesion to substrates that are difficult to bond.
• Used predominantly as a reactant with a base thermoset resin to gain product performance improvement.
• Hypro® 1300X13 CTBN is suitable for use in solution, powder, and waterborne coating formulations.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Hypro® 1300X16 ATBN by Huntsman is a reactive toughener and flexibilizer. It is amine terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer. Its amine structure is based on N-aminoethylpiperazine (N-AEP).

• It improves the adhesion, toughness, flexibility and impact resistance of thermoset resin system including epoxies, vinyl esters, unsaturated polyesters, acrylics as well as urethanes.
• It increases low-temperature mechanical properties as well as wear resistance.
• Hypro® 1300X16 ATBN is used in coatings and linings for corrosion resistance.
