Deltech Monomers para-Methylstyrene (PMS)
by Deltech
Deltech Monomers para-Methylstyrene (PMS) by Deltech is a monomer used as a replacement for vinyltoluene and styrene monomers. It shares similar chemical properties and polymerization behavior with both vinyltoluene and styrene. It exhibits lower vapor pressure at any temperature and a higher flashpoint when used as a partial or complete replacement for styrene monomer in unsaturated polyester resin applications.
- Direct substitution of PMS monomer for vinyltoluene can be made with minimal reformulation to obtain equal or improved performance when used in specialty coatings.
- It shows faster molding cycles and thermal stability.
- It is used in coatings industry.
- Deltech Monomers para-Methylstyrene (PMS) complies with REACH and TSCA.
- Sustainable option
MTPS
by Gelest (Mitsubishi Chemical)
Methacrylate-terminated polystyrene usually supplied in cyclohexane solution. It is a low-molecular weight macromolecular monomer with a single methacrylate ester end-group. Can be readily co-polymerized with many other monomers. Soluble in a wide range of monomers and organic solvents. Increases shear strength without affecting peel strength and improves toughness while maintaining the thermoplastic nature of the end polymer. Final resin properties are similar to those of polystyrene.
SP-51-003
by Specific Polymers
SP-51-003 by Specific Polymers is styrene phosphonic acid. It is UV curable, pH sensitive, phosphorus-based monomer. Offers chelation, anticorrosion and protonic conductivity. It is suitable for metal coating applications. Used in dental, effluent treatment and fuel cell.
SP-59-005
by Specific Polymers
SP-59-005 by Specific Polymers is styrene imidazole. It contains 100 ppm of 4-methoxyphenol as stabilizing agent. It is UV curable, hydrophobic nitrogen-based monomer. Offers antimicrobial and anticorrosion properties. It is suitable for glass and metal coating applications.
Vinyltoluene (VT)
by Jiangsu Zhengdan Chemical Industry
Vinyltoluene (VT) by Jiangsu Zhengdan Chemical Industry is a flammable, mixture of m-methylstyrene and p-methylstyrene. Compared with styrene monomer (SM), it has lower toxicity, volatility and odor, higher stability and flash point. Suitable as a replacement of SM for the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resin, modified alkyd resin, vinyl resin etc. which are widely used in impregnating insulation dip paint and coatings. It is reactive with oxidants, peroxides and strong acids. Vinyltoluene (VT) has high flash point and is stored in a warehouse below 16°C.
Alphamethylstyrene (AMS)
by Ineos
Alphamethylstyrene (AMS) by Ineos is a combustible liquid. It is used as a modifier in the manufacturing of ABS resins with applications in the automotive and electrical industries for water heaters and household equipment. Alphamethylstyrene (AMS) is used for coatings.
