Slip Control Agents for Coatings and Inks

Luna-add 4101 distributed by DKSH is an amide wax, improved benzoin degassing agent and slip additive. It reduces yellowing and eliminate pinholes. It is effective in HAA systems at thicker film builds.

• It is able to be used with a wide variety of resin systems and improves scratch resistance and film appearance.
• It is used in powder coatings.
• Recommended usage level is 0.15-1.5% (w/w).

AHA4101 distributed by DKSH acts as an amide wax-improved benzoin based slip and degassing agent, or melt viscosity modifier, used in powder coatings such as polyesters-TGIC, polyurethanes, hybrids, epoxies, and acrylics, particularly for polyester-HAA systems.

• It helps eliminate pinholes, reduce yellowing, and improve film quality, appearance, and gloss, especially in thicker film builds.
• The combination of wax and benzoin in this product enhances air release, surface slip, powder processing, and scratch resistance.
• Recommended usage level is 0.5-1.5% by weight, calculated on total formulation depending on the gloss required.
• It has a shelf life of 1 year.
• AHA4101 is available in Canada.

EBECRYL® 341 by allnex is a low viscosity, low odor, silicone-free slip additive master batch. It provides improvement of slip between UV/EB cured coatings, good inter-coat adhesion and glueability. EBECRYL® 341 is recommended for use in overprint varnish and other radiation curable formulations where good slip properties are required and silicone additives must be avoided. It can be used at levels between 1 and 10%. The shelf life is 2 years.

TEGO® Glide 482 distributed by DKSH is an outstanding slip and anti-blocking properties in waterborne coatings. It is low foam, easy to incorporate and exhibits excellent haptics benefits. It is used in architectural-, wood-, furniture-, leather-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

Hubercarb® Q6-40 by Huber Engineered Materials is a granular calcium carbonate-based filler with controlled particle distribution. It acts as an extender, gloss control agent, anti-slip additive, rheology modifier and densifier.

• Produced at huber’s quincy, Illinois plant which is known for its natural uniformity.
• Possess consistent purity and brightness.
• Hubercarb® Q6-40 is recommended for paints and coating applications.

TEGO® Glide A 115 distributed by DKSH is an excellent slip in solvent-borne and NC system. Exhibits excellent anti-scratch resistance. It is used in architectural-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

• Recommended usage level is 0.1-1.0%.

A-C® 629 distributed by DKSH is a rheological aid for use in solvent borne system. It is a low-density oxidized polyethylene (LDOxPE) homopolymer. It can also be atmospherically emulsified for use in aqueous applications, such as textiles, lubricants, coatings and inks, to lower the COF. It improves gloss and external lubrication.

• It provides surface properties such as mar- and abrasion resistance, and increased slip.
• A-C® 629 is NSF and FDA indirect approved.
• It is available in Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and Philippines.

Hubercarb® G35T by Huber Engineered Materials is an ultra-fine ground calcium carbonate-based filler with high purity. It acts as an extender, gloss control agent, anti-slip additive, rheology modifier and densifier.

• Produced from a high brightness marble deposit in Georgia.
• Its particles are processed with a proprietary fatty acid-based surface treatment.
• It is suitable for applications which require high brightness or pure tints.
• Hubercarb® G35T is used in pipes, conduit, paints and coating applications.

TEGO® Glide 496 distributed by DKSH is an outstanding slip and touch properties without compromising recoatability and compatibility. It exhibits excellent leveling and anti-crater properties. It is used in architectural-, wood-, transportation-, can-, coil-, decorative-, general industrial coatings and printing inks.

• Recommended usage level is 0.1-1.0%.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Hubercarb® M70 by Huber Engineered Materials is a medium fine ground calcium carbonate-based filler. It acts as an extender, gloss control agent, anti-slip additive, rheology modifier and densifier.

• Produced from a uniform, high calcium limestone deposit in marble falls, Texas.
• It is suitable for oilfield drilling fluids where its low acid insoluble content is useful.
Hubercarb® M70 is recommended for traffic paints and coating applications.
