Polybutadiene Resins for Coatings and Inks

POLYVEST® ST-E 60 by Evonik is a stereospecific triethoxysilane-terminated liquid polybutadiene grade with a low viscosity. It is an unsaturated polymer backbone with terminal triethoxysilane function.

• It is an apolar hydrophobic hydrocarbon resin and a highly reactive binder with excellent inorganic filler dispersing properties.
• It offers excellent compatibility with solid and recycled rubber, good dispersion and chemical modification with high loading capacity of inorganic fillers.
• POLYVEST® ST-E 60 exhibits high chemical resistance and cold resistance by keeping good flexibility at low temperatures.
• It provides low moisture and gas permeability, and possibility of moisture induced curing.
• It has good solubility in aliphatic, aromatics and ethers.

Polybutadiene adducted with maleic anhydride. Ricon® 131MA5 acts as an amber colored liquid resin. It exhibits polybutadiene as a starting material and adds functional groups to this backbone. The functional groups that are added can react with epoxy, amines and hydroxyls.. Its benefits include that the polybutadiene backbone improves the moisture resistance of the final product, liquid nature allows for easy mixing. It can be used in place of or in addition to anhydrides typically used in anhydride based epoxy systems.

BIOLIN™ 100 by ASK Chemicals is bio-based, solvent-free, polybutadiene copolymer resin emulsion based on linseed oil. One of its advantages is its unique wetting behavior with different substrates such as quartz sand and rubber granules.

• It does not contain siccatives and therefore cobalt free or cobalt free dryers can be used.
• The cured material exhibits good weather- and saponification-resistance, high final hardness, and very good flank adhesion.

Krasol® LBH 3000 by Cray Valley Total Group is a linear polybutadiene polymer with hydroxyl end groups. It is suitable for use in coating applications. Provides hydroxyl functionality and narrow molecular weight distribution. Possesses excellent chemical resistance, good electrical characteristics and low temperature properties. Due to a high concentration of olefinic double bonds and low molecular weight, it is a liquid at ambient temperature. The product is immiscible in water and alcohols and miscible in nonpolar organic liquids, oils and bitumens. Krasol® LBH 3000 reacts through the double bonds along the polymer chain and through the terminal hydroxyl groups. It is particularly useful as the polyol component in polyurethane systems.

Hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene resin with a number average molecular weight of approximately 2800. Has primary, allylic alcohol groups that exhibit high reactivity in either condensation polymerization reactions or the preparation of derivatives. Exhibits low moisture permeability, resistance to aqueous acids and bases, low temperature flexibility, and electrical insulation properties. Used in waterproof coatings and membranes. Possesses low color and high clarity. Used in waterproof coatings and membranes.

Poly BD 605E by Resin Solutions is a multifunctional, hydroxy terminated, most highly epoxidized polybutadiene resin. It is recommended for use in electronic coatings and polyurethane formulations with flexibility and water resistance. Offers impact resistance and flexibility to epoxy formulations. Poly BD 605E exhibits low viscosity and UV cationic cure. Possesses aqueous acid and base resistance and shows adhesion to a variety of substrates.

Poly BD 600E by Resin Solutions is a multifunctional, hydroxy terminated, epoxidized polybutadiene resin. It is used in electronic coatings and polyurethane formulations with flexibility and water resistance. Offers impact resistance and flexibility to epoxy formulations. Poly BD 600E possesses aqueous acid and base resistance and adhesion to a variety of substrates. In addition, oxirane oxygen groups on the polymer backbone allow it to be used as the sole resin in epoxy formulations or in combination with bisphenol A or cycloaliphatic epoxy resin formulations.

POLYVEST® eCO ST-E 60 Bio by Evonik is a stereospecific, low viscous and triethoxysilane-terminated liquid polybutadiene. It has been shown to reduce the use of fossil raw materials by up to >87%. It exhibits high chemical resistance, good dispersion and chemical modification with high loading capacity of inorganic fillers and high cold resistance by keeping good flexibility at low temperatures. It possesses low moisture and gas permeability. It is recommended for use in waterproofing membranes and coatings. POLYVEST® eCO ST-E 60 Bio is stable for at least 12 months.

POLYVEST® eCO 130 Bio by Evonik is a stereospecific, low viscous and unsaponifiable polybutadiene with high content of 1,4-cis double bonds. It has been shown to reduce the use of fossil raw materials by up to 99.9%. It exhibits high chemical & water resistance, high electrical insulation properties and high cold resistance. It shows good compatibility with hydrocarbon resins, rosin resins and zinc resonates. It is recommended for use in offset printing inks. POLYVEST® eCO 130 Bio has shelf life of 1 year.

POLYVEST® eCO 110 Bio by Evonik is a stereospecific, low viscous and unsaponifiable polybutadiene with high content of 1,4-cis double bonds. It has been shown to reduce the use of fossil raw materials by up to 99.9%. It exhibits high chemical & water resistance, high electrical insulation properties and high cold resistance. It shows good compatibility with hydrocarbon resins, rosin resins and zinc resonates. It is designed for use in offset printing inks. POLYVEST® eCO 110 Bio has shelf life of 1 year.
