Opacifiers / Hiding Agents

Opacifiers or hiding agents typically appear as fine white powders, primarily titanium dioxide (TiO2). Their functionality involves scattering light effectively to provide opacity and hiding power to a paint film, thereby obscuring the substrate and enabling full color development with fewer coats. Key features include high refractive index, excellent light scattering efficiency, and good tinting strength. They are highly suitable for all types of opaque paints, primers, and pigmented coatings where covering power, brightness, and color rendition are essential for aesthetic and functional performance.

While some extenders can contribute to opacity, dedicated opacifiers like TiO2 are unparalleled in their hiding capabilities.
