Natural Rosins for Coatings and Inks

Alcohol Soluble Rosin Resin by Foreverest Resources is modified by unsaturated acid and partially esterified with multi-alcohol. Alcohol Soluble Rosin Resin is recommended for use in alcohol soluble intaglio printing ink glazing oil and water-based ink and paints.

Modified Rosin Resin by Foreverest Resources has a high softening point and exhibits high hardness and high gloss. It shows good solubility in 120 solvents and high adhesion with HIPS, ABS, and vacuum plating. Modified Rosin Resin has good compatibility with TD1 modified alkyd resin.

Rosin Ester-Hydrogenated Rosin by Foreverest Resources possesses light color, high oxidation resistance and high thermal stability. Is one of the dominant varieties of modified rosin and is widely used in industry. Conjugated unsaturation of abietic resin acids can be removed through catalytic hydrogenation to overcome the shortcomings of oxidation and color degradation in rosin. Rosin Ester-Hydrogenated Rosin compatible in useful proportions with alkyds, natural and synthetic rubbers, natural resins, ethylcellulose, waxes, plastic polymers, elastomeric polymers, metallic pigments as well as many other raw materials.

Rosin Ester-Polymerized Rosin by Foreverest Resources is polymerized Rosin. Rosin Ester-Polymerized Rosin is a modified, non-crystalline product of gum rosin that contains abietic-type acids. It possesses higher softening point, good oxidation-resistance and higher viscosity in organic solvent. It is used in ink and oil paint.

AS 15T by AS Resinas is a tropical rosin gum. It offers improved strength and smoothness. It is used in paint and varnishes applications. AS 15T is REACH compliant and vegan certified.

AS 90H by AS Resinas is a hybrid rosin gum. It provides strength and smoothness. AS 90H is used in paint and varnishes applications. It is REACH compliant and vegan certified.

Dark wood rosin. It is a medium softening point, dark, thermoplastic, acidic resin. It is obtained during the separation and refining of various natural resins and terpenes extracted from aged pinewood. Belro dark wood rosin is composed of rosin-type resin acids, oxidized and otherwise modified forms of these materials, and a minor amount of the neutral and colored constituents associated with dark wood rosins. Offers high acid value, good oxidation resistance, good thermoplasticity, wide compatability and chemical reactivity.

Wood rosin. It is a thermoplastic acidic resin composed of rosin acids, oxidized and modified forms of these resins, and neutral and colored constituents associated with dark rosin. Shows water resistance and wide solubility and chemical reactivity range. Used in gum ester for protective coatings, inks and ink vehicles.

Methyl ester of wood rosin. Acts as gloss agent. It is an amber-colored, near neutral, tacky, viscous liquid. Abalyn resin retains the reactive double bonds of rosin, which may be an advantage or drawback depending upon application conditions. For a methyl ester that has been stabilized against oxidation at these reactive sites by hydrogenation, Hercolyn® D resin is recommended. Possesses clarity, high refractive index, high boiling point, low vapor pressure, good thermal stability, excellent surface wetting properties, viscosity, and tack. These physical properties, plus its wide compatibility, make it useful in a variety of applications, including lacquers, inks, paper coatings and varnishes.
