Exolit® AP 418 (TP)
by Clariant
Exolit® AP 418 (TP) by Clariant is a halogen-free flame retardant with favorable environmental and health profile. It is suitable as an acid donor for solvent-based intumescent coatings thanks to its low water solubility. It offers longer fire resistance time (FRT) compared to conventional solutions by exhibiting an earlier on-set temperature.
- It is non-hygroscopic, biodegradable and non-flammable.
- It is used in thin metal sheet surfaces (e. g. aluminum), plastic materials, composite materials (carbon- or glass-fiber reinforced materials, wood plastic composites), polyurethane, and textiles.
- Exolit® AP 418 (TP) can be used in transport applications to obtain good fire, smoke and toxicity results (EN 45545).

Exolit® AP 742
by Clariant
Exolit® AP 742 by Clariant is an ammonium polyphosphate. Acts as a non-halogenated flame retardant. Develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. Differs in its mode of action from chlorine or bromine containing flame retardants by achieving its effect through intumescence. The flame retarded material foams on exposure to flame. The carbon foam layer so formed protects the polymer through its heat-insulating effect and reduces further oxygen access. Exolit® AP 742 is used in intumescent coatings.
Exolit® AP 740 F
by Clariant
Exolit® AP 740 F by Clariant is a non-halogenated flame retardant based on ammonium polyphosphate which develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. Suitable both for coatings and reinforced materials. It differs in its mode of action from chlorine or bromine containing flame retardants by achieving its effect through intumescence and has compared to Exolit® AP 740 smaller particles.
- It exhibits low smoke density and can be used alone or in combination with synergists like aluminum hydroxide in composites.
- By its addition in unsaturated polyester gel coats, important standards like DIN EN 13501-1 or DIN 5510 S4 SR2 ST2, EN 45545-2 can be passed.
- It is suitable for coatings applications.
- Exolit® AP 740 F is very effective in methacrylate-styrene dissolved unsaturated polyester resins.
- It has shelf life of 12 months.
Exolit® AP 740 S
by Clariant
Exolit® AP 740 S by Clariant is a non-halogenated flame retardant based on ammonium polyphosphate which develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. It is suitable for coatings applications. It exhibits low smoke density and can be used alone or in combination with synergists like aluminum hydroxide in composites.

Exolit® AP 750
by Clariant
Exolit® AP 750 by Clariant is an ammonium polyphosphate. Acts as a non-halogenated flame retardant. Develops its effectiveness through phosphorus/nitrogen synergism. Shows high processing stability. Differs in its mode of action from non-phosphorus-based flame retardants (e. g. brominated, chlorinated or mineral FRs like ATH) by achieving its effect through intumescence. Exolit® AP 750 is used in epoxy-based gelcoats or PU coatings.
Pyrocide EX 4
by Pyrotech
Flame retardant, intumescent powder. Added to water using a high-shear mixer followed by addition of the latex to the slurry to prepare intumescent coatings. The amount of powder added to the latex/water coating will vary between 35 and 50 per cent depending on the latex used, the coating properties needed, and the flame spread required. Is an excellent flame retardant for many different systems, each system having to be evaluated to determine compatibility and flame spread rating. Used in water-based latex coatings and solvent based resin coatings.
