Humectants for Coatings and Inks

NUOSPERSE® 2000 by Elementis is a waterborne wetting and dispersion agent. It is a liquid carrier/ humectant for use in VOC- compliant colorants and pigment dispersions. It is free of organic solvents and nonylphenol ethoxylates, making it environmentally friendly.

• It reduces the tendency of the colorant to dry out during storage or application.
• It offers good water resistance and very good storage stability, pigment wetting and stabilizing properties.
• It stabilizes pigment dispersions and improves dispersing properties.
• Recommended usage level is 5-25%.
• NUOSPERSE® 2000 has a shelf life of 2 years.

Dantocol® DHE by Arxada is a humectant and crosslinking agent. It is suitable for solubilization and high temperature resistant polyester or modified imide-amide wire enamels.

• It is suitable for acrylic, epoxy and polyurethane resins.
• Recommended for inks and specialty coatings including acrylics and polyurethanes.
• Dantocol® DHE is currently listed in the U.S. EPA TSCA 8(b) inventory list.
• It requires no precautionary classification and labeling according to Directives 67/548/EEC or 88/379/EEC.

Polyglykol® 8000 P by Clariant is a polyethylene glycol-based solvent, humectant and plasticizer. It possesses very low water content and good solubility in water. Polyglykol® 8000 P is suitable for paints and coatings.

Polyglykol® 6000 P by Clariant is a polyethylene glycol-based solvent, humectant and plasticizer. It possesses very low water content and excellent solubility in water. It is suitable for paints and coatings.

2-PYROL™ by Ashland is a hygroscopic, biodegradable and reactive 2-pyrrolidone. It offers low vapor pressure, high flash point, high dipole moment, ready complex formation and surface activity. 2-PYROL™ is used as a humectant and cosolvent in digital printing inks and as a coalescent or plasticizer for acrylic resins, especially in inks.

Casachem™ PEG 600 by Thomas Swan is a low-molecular-weight plasticizer and humectant. It is a clear, colorless liquid that allows easy dosing and blending, with excellent water solubility and compatibility with most polar organic solvents.

• It has a safe profile with low toxicity and hypoallergenic properties, fully compliant with health and safety standards.
• It is a versatile additive that provides effective moisture retention.
• Its hydrophilic nature enhances solubility and dispersion of active ingredients.
• Casachem™ PEG 600 is used in coatings.

Dispersogen® AN 100 by Clariant is a surfactant-based dispersing agent, wetting agent, humectant and compatibilizer. It is free of preservative, alkyl phenol & alkyl phenol derivatives and contains very low content of volatile organic components.

• It enables highest tinting yields and reduces rubout.
• It reduces the drying/extends the open time and improves the compatibility of aqueous tinting systems for solvent and waterborne coatings.
• It is suitable for carbon blacks and water-based & solvent-based pigment preparations.
• It is designed for universal point-of-sales colorants and concentrates for in-plant tinting.
• Recommended dosage is 10-30% on inorganic pigments and 40-100% on organic pigments.
• Dispersogen® AN 100 has a shelf life of 730 days.

Polyglykol® 600 PU by Clariant is a polyethylene glycol-based solvent, humectant and plasticizer. It is suitable for paints and coatings.

Polyglykol® 4000 S by Clariant is a polyethylene glycol-based solvent, humectant and plasticizer. It possesses very low water content and excellent solubility in water. It is used in paints and coatings.

Polyglykol® 12000 S by Clariant is a polyethylene glycol-based solvent, humectant and plasticizer. It is suitable for paint additive manufacturing. Recommended storage temperature is 10-25 °C.
