Film Protection Biocides for Coatings and Inks

ROZONE™ 2000 distributed by DKSH is a liquid fungicide and algicide. It is a liquid mildewcide for the protection of paint films and coatings. It is a high-performance preservative against the growth of surface molds which also displays excellent activity against algae and bacteria.

• It has a very low water solubility.
• It has a high resistance to leaching even on weathered surfaces and provides a long-term protection.
• It is designed for water- or solvent-based coatings.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.55%.
• ROZONE™ 2000 is available in Canada.

FUNGIPOL® CP 123 distributed by DKSH is a VOC-, carbendazim- & diuron-free dry film preservative based on microencapsulated OIT, DCOIT and IPBC. It is used for protecting waterborne paint films & coatings against fungal and algal growth.

• It exhibits stability in a broad range of pH & temperatures and possesses a mild odor.
• It also improves resistance against alkali, UV & leaching.
• Suitable for interior- & exterior and other eco-friendly formulations.
• The recommended dosage level is between 0.25%-3.0%.
• The shelf life of FUNGIPOL® CP 123 is 12 months.
• It is available in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania & Sweden.

Vinkocide™ X10 S distributed by DKSH is a broad-spectrum preservative. It is a fungicide and is composed of DCOIT. It exhibits excellent long-term efficacy.

• It is non-polar and has no VOC.
• It is cost efficient and has low leachability and possesses an excellent temperature stability.
• Suitable for use in decorative wood coating and solvent based paints.
• Recommended dosage level of Vinkocide™ X10 S is 0.5-2.0%.
• It is available in Asia and Europe.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Proxel® BZ Plus by Arxada is an antibacterial/anti-fungal preservative. It is an aqueous dispersion of a blend of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and zinc 2-pyridine-thiol-1- oxide.

• It offers effective control of a wide range of bacterial and fungal organisms at economic concentrations.
• It exhibits long-term storage stability.
• It provides ease of use due to its liquid form and very good compatibility in most aqueous systems.
• Proxel® BZ Plus is used in paints and stains.

Polyphase® AF1 by Arxada is a dry film preservative and non-metallic fungicide. It offers compatibility with water reducible resins and aqueous polymer emulsions such as pure acrylic, styrene acrylic and polyvinyl alcohol and copolymers. It is used in wood protection, lacquers and stucco/plasters. The usage level of Polyphase® AF1 is 0.1-6%.

Zinc Omadine® ZOE by Arxada is a highly effective broad-spectrum dry film preservative that provides protection against spoilage from bacteria, yeasts, algae, and fungi.

• It is color-stable and offers good leaching resistance.
• It is particularly effective as a single active dry film preservative for architectural and industrial paints and coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 24 months.

Polyphase® 763CR by Arxada is a broad-spectrum, dry-film, preservative. This water-based product is effective against a wide variety of fungal and algal organisms where controlled release of active ingredients is beneficial. Polyphase® 763CR is particularly useful in water-based products in which volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are a major concern and more than fungal protection is desired. It is used in paints, masonry coating and wood protective stains.

Preventol® A 14-D by LANXESS is a dry film preservative based on diuron, carbendazim and octylisothiazolinones. This water-based dispersion exhibits broad-spectrum activity against algae and fungi which can destroy surface coatings. It possesses good flow and handling properties. It has low degree of water solubility, therefore offering good leaching resistance and long service time. It is compatible with high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Preventol® A 14-D is suitable for paints and coatings used for architectural products, finishes and special purpose coatings. Recommended dosage level is 0.15-2%. The shelf life is 12 months.

Fungitrol® 720 by Arxada acts as a dry-film fungicide. It is VOC-free, low odor and discoloration potential. It offers highly effective, broad-spectrum protection against degradation, and defacement caused by mold, mildew and staining and wood rot fungi.

• Fungitrol® 720 is suitable for water-based systems.
• It is used in paints, coatings, stucco, inks and other industrial applications.
• It is effective against a broad range of fungi and remains color-stable in the final formulation.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.5-1.0% for decorative wood coatings and 0.24-1.00% for interior paints, coatings and stucco.
• It has a shelf life of 12 months.
• It is listed under TSCA 8(b).

Polyphase® 678 by Arxada is a zero VOC, full-spectrum dry-film preservative offering protection against the growth of mold and mildew, as well as other types of fungi.

• It is used to treat paints and coatings, stucco/masonry coatings, EIFS coatings, and other similar coating products where water is a major component.
• Polyphase® 678 is suitable for water-based products.
