Epoxy Resins for Coatings and Inks

EBECRYL® 600 by allnex is a low VOC diacrylate ester of bisphenol A epoxy resin. It provides light color and fast cure response.

• Films cured via exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) or electron beam (EB) possesses high surface hardness and gloss and excellent chemical resistance.
• It reduces energy consumption and exhibits low carbon foot print, good compatibility, low flammability and long potlife.
• It is a radiation curable, solvent- and tin free grade.
• EBECRYL® 600 is recommended for lithographic and screen inks, overprint varnishes and fast cure coatings.
• It is also used in coatings for paper, paperboard, wood, chipboard and rigid plastics.

Epotec® YD 901H distributed by DKSH is a low molecular weight solid epoxy resin. It has molecular weight & viscosity in between Epotec® YD 901 & Epotec® YD 902. Additionally, its lower glass transition temperature makes it prone to sintering during storage.

• It is used in powder coatings as well as solvent-based industrial coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.
• Epotec® YD 901H is available in Canada.

EBECRYL® 3605 by allnex is a light color, partially acrylated ester of a bisphenol A type epoxy resin. It contains both acrylate and epoxy functionality. It may be cured by exposure to either ultraviolet light (UV) or electron beam (EB) in conjunction with conventional epoxy curing. It may also be cured with UV radiation using a mixed photoinitiator system consisting of free radical and cationic photoinitiators. It is developed for applications requiring improved coating performance properties over those obtainable with conventional UV/EB curing alone. It is recommended for coatings and inks for metal substrates including aluminum. It is designed for applications requiring fast cure speed of an epoxy acrylate with improved flexibility and superior adhesion to rigid, non-porous substrates. EBECRYL® 3605 offers high gloss finish, surface hardness and good solvent resistance. Formulated products may be applied via direct or reverse roll, offset gravure, metering rod, slot die, knife over roll, air knife, curtain, immersion and spin coating methods as well as offset and screen printing. It is suitable for dual (UV/thermal)- and two component- curing systems.

SYNA S-21 distributed by DKSH is a distilled base epoxy resin. It is a low VOC grade and provides low odor and primary film properties. It has both carboxylate and epoxy groups, with the potential for fast cure. It is used in formulating UV-curable cycloaliphatic epoxide coatings systems.

• It is widely used in industry for the preparation of inks and coatings.
• It offers excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates.
• Possesses low viscosity and rapid polymerization in the presence of strong cationic initiators.
• The shelf life of SYNA S-21 is 2 years.
• It is available in Asia, Europe and North America.

EBECRYL® 860 by allnex is an epoxidized soya oil acrylate. Exhibits good hydrophilic-lipophilic balance for lithography and good surface appearance. It improves the flow and leveling of UV or electron beam (EB) curable inks and coatings. It enhances pigment & substrate wetting and adhesion when used as a modifier. Recommended for overprint varnishes for paper, lithographic ink vehicles, metal decorating and protective coatings, screen ink vehicles and pigmented wood coatings. Formulated products containing EBECRYL® 860 may be applied via direct or reverse roll, offset gravure, metering rod, slot die, knife over roll, air knife, curtain, immersion and spin coating methods, as well as flexographic, lithographic and screen printing.

HETRON® FR992 by allnex is a low viscosity, no foaming, exothermic, unpromoted flame retardant epoxy vinyl ester resin. Exhibits excellent chemical and corrosion resistance, excellent impact strength and high tensile elongation. Offers excellent physical strength, and much better impact and thermal shock resistance than polyester resins. Provides excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, hypochlorites and many solvents. Suitable for flake-glass or fiber glass reinforced linings, coatings and monolithic toppings on tanks, vats, floors and troughs. HETRON® FR992 has a shelf life of 3 months.

Epotec® YDH 184 distributed by DKSH is an epoxy resin based on diglycidyl ester of hexahydrophthalic anhydride. It gives better non-yellowing characteristics and chalking resistance. It offers good UV light and weather resistance. It can also be cured with anhydride curing agents at high temperatures.

• It has low VOC and solvent-free formulations.
• The applications include coatings for outdoor application on metal, wood and concrete surface, high solids coatings including baking finishes and for potting and insulating compound coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.
• Epotec® YDH 184 is available in Canada.

YN-1828 distributed by DKSH is a medium viscosity liquid epoxy resin produced from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin. It contains no diluents.

• It provides good pigment wetting and good resistance to filler settling and high level of mechanical and chemical resistance properties in the cured state.
• It is recommended for solvent-free and high-solid coatings.
• The shelf life of YN-1828 is 1 year.
• It is available in Australia, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia and Thailand.

BECKOPOX™ EP 2307w/45WAMP by allnex is a high-molecular epoxy resin (Type 7) dispersion. In combination with suitable crosslinkers (amino or phenolic resins and accelerators), it is possible to formulate stoving enamels with excellent chemical & heat sterilization resistance, good adhesion and corrosion performance. The mixing ratio of binder to crosslinker can vary from 85:15 up to 70:30 (calculated on solids). The stoving conditions depending on the crosslinker are in the range of 30 minutes 140°C up to 10 minutes at 200°C resulting in coatings with high hardness. BECKOPOX™ EP 2307w/45WAMP can be stored for 270 days at storage temperature up to 25°C.

RESYDROL® EM 6642w/55BG by allnex is a grinding resin for 2-component cathodic ED paints. It allows the production of highly pigmented stable pastes. Shows excellent levelling and corrosion resistance. Pigment pastes based on RESYDROL® EM 6642w/55BG in combination with cathodic dispersions give ED-paints with excellent stability and throwing power. It has a shelf life of at least 180 days at temperatures upto 30°C.
