Combination Driers for Coatings and Inks

ADDITOL® XW 6533 by allnex is a water-emulsifiable, cobalt-free, combination drier. It contains a balanced metal combination which is necessary for an optimum oxidative drying. It may be added as siccative to all water-borne oxidatively drying alkyd resin paints. It offers good set-drying combined with an even through-drying. The recommended quantity to be added is 4-6%, calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of ADDITOL® XW 6533 is 730 days.

ADDITOL® VXW 6206 by allnex is a water-emulsifiable, ethoxylate-free nonylphenyl combination drier of cobalt, lithium and zirconium. It may be added as siccative to all water-borne oxidatively drying alkyd resin paints. ADDITOL® VXW 6206 is lead- and barium-free grade which provides good set-drying combined with an even through-drying. The recommended quantity to be added is 1.0-3.0% calculated on solid resin. The shelf life of this product is 730 days.

Troymax™ Zinc 12 by Arxada is a pigment wetting agent and antioxidant. It is a metal carboxylate solution containing 10% of zinc metal. It provides improved through dry to auto-oxidate drying systems and improve film hardness. Troymax™ Zinc 12 is utilized to hinder wrinkling of thick films and baking coatings.

Troymax™ Zinc 10 by Arxada is a pigment wetting agent and an antioxidant. It is a metal carboxylate solution containing 10% of zinc metal. It provides improved through dry to auto-oxidate drying systems and improve film hardness. Troymax™ Zinc 10 is utilized to hinder wrinkling of thick films and baking coatings.

ADDITOL® VXW 4940 N DRY (Old Name: ADDITOL® VXW 4940 N) by allnex is a lead-free, nonylphenol ethoxylate free combination drier. It provides quick set-drying in connection with an even through-drying. It is suitable for water-dilutable, oxidatively drying alkyd resin paints.

• It contains all metals (3% cobalt, 3% barium, 5% zirconium) which are necessary for an utmost oxidative drying.
• It can also be used for acryl-alkyd hybrid systems.
• The recommended dosage level is 2-3% on solid binder.
• ADDITOL® VXW 4940 N DRY has a shelf life of 1 year at storage temperature up to 25°C.

Aryadry Cobalt 10% by Aryavart Chemicals is an active drier or top drier as it activates drying of the film by oxidation. It is used in combination with lead/zirconium for good thorough drying.

• It is used as an accelerator in polymerization of unsaturated polyester resins.
• It is available as solution in MTO in various concentrations.
• Aryadry Cobalt 10% is suitable for printing inks and varnishes.

Aryadry Zirconium 10% by Aryavart Chemicals is an auxiliary drier used in combination with calcium, cobalt and manganese. It is an effective replacement for lead in such systems. It achieves adequate drying time with less sensitive finishes when used in combination with calcium.

• It improves gloss, color, drying time, flexibility and other surface characteristics.
• It does not perform well under adverse drying condition of low temperature & high humidity.
• It is available as stable solution in MTO in various concentrations.
• Recommended usage level is 0.03 to 0.2% of the metal.
• It is used in high viscosity paints & printing inks.

SIOResin® H-1206D by Guangzhou SIO New Material is a lead-free water-based composite drier that excellently promotes both surface and full drying speeds. It is recommended to be added during the grinding process. It is designed to rapidly and uniformly accelerate both the initial and full drying processes of paint films. It is longer-lasting than traditional cobalt driers with better storage stability and less impact from pigments or fillers.

• It offers improved color stability, gloss, hardness, and water resistance of the paint film.
• Suitable for water-based, air-drying resin systems that dry through oxidative polymerization.
• It optimizes drying times while enhancing the overall durability and appearance of their water-based coatings.
• The recommended usage level is 3-5% of the resin's solid content in the formulation.
• SIOResin® H-1206D has a shelf life of 1 year.

UNIDRY® X-21 by K-tech acts as a drier. It is a lead-free, safe and environment-friendly product. Shows restricted surfactancy. Can either be added at the ink manufacturing stage to modify a basic formulation or added at press side at the discretion of the printer. Suitable for printing on various materials such as rubber, cardboard, papers, plastic cards, films and porous & non-porous substrates. Recommended for offset and metal decorative inks.
