Combination Driers

Combination driers are typically supplied as clear to brownish liquids, formulated blends of various metal carboxylates. Their functionality involves accelerating the oxidative polymerization of alkyd and other air-drying coatings by catalyzing the uptake of oxygen and crosslinking reactions. Key features include balanced drying performance (surface and through-dry), reduced wrinkling, and improved film hardness. They are highly suitable for a wide range of solvent-borne alkyd paints, enamels, and varnishes, where achieving a consistent and rapid cure at ambient temperatures is crucial for efficient application and performance. 

A significant trend is the development of non-cobalt combination driers and those with reduced levels of heavy metals, driven by environmental and regulatory concerns.
