Caprolactone Monomers for Coatings and Inks

Hydroxyethylcaprolactone Acrylate (HECLA) by BASF is an acrylate and caprolactone-based monomer. It forms homopolymers and copolymers. Used as feedstock for chemical synthesis because it readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds.

• It is an ideal capping agent for UV-curable urethane acrylate oligomers.
• Imparts adhesion, flexibility, weatherability, and crosslinking properties to polymers.

PLACCEL® FM1D by Daicel is a caprolactone-modified methacrylate with reduced inhibitor content. It has hydroxyl and methacrylic functionality for dual cure systems. It offers faster reactivity with isocyanates, improved adhesion and physical performance. It provides weathering- and oil resistance. It is recommended for use in coatings.

Capa® Monomer by Ingevity is a colorless, low viscosity caprolactone monomer. It is a cyclic ester with a lactone ring that is relatively easily opened by compounds containing active hydrogen atoms such as alcohols. Each ring opening step forms a terminal, primary hydroxyl group. It exhibits excellent UV resistance, consistent crystallization, high flexibility even at low temperatures and low viscosity. It possesses hydrolytic stability, excellent strength, abrasion resistance and high and low temperature service interval. It is non-toxic, easy to process, biodegradable and has low impurities. Capa® Monomer is used as a flexibilizing monomer in unsaturated polyester gel coats. It is applicable in paints and inks. It can also be used as a reactive diluent in epoxy resins. It is suitable for high solid coatings, one-component (1K) stoving enamels and two-component (2K) waterborne and solvent-borne polyurethane coatings.

CELLOXIDE 2081 by Daicel appears as a colorless or light-yellow colored liquid. Recommended for use in coatings.

Capa® 6250 is a high molecular weight linear polyester derived from caprolactone monomer. Shows compatibility with a wide range of common thermoplastics and solubility in several common solvents.

Capa® 6500 is a high molecular weight linear polyester derived from caprolactone monomer. It is compatible with a wide range of common thermoplastics and is soluble in several common solvents.

Capa® 6400 is a high molecular weight linear polyester derived from caprolactone monomer. Is compatible with a wide range of common thermoplastics and soluble in several common solvents. Capa® 6400 is supplied in granular form, approx. 3 mm pellets.

Capa® 6500D is a low molecular weight, linear polyester derived from caprolactone monomer. Compatible with a wide range of common thermoplastics and soluble in several common solvents. It is supplied in granular form, approx. 3 mm pellets. According to Directive 2005/79/EC Amendment, Capa® 6500D should meet food grade standards in Europe.

It is a low molecular weight, linear polyester diol derived from caprolactone monomer, terminated by primary hydroxyl groups. It is a colorless liquid at normal ambient temperatures. It can be used in surface coatings.

Capa® 2403D is a premium grade linear polyester diol derived from caprolactone monomer, terminated by primary hydroxyl groups. It is a white waxy solid. Used in coatings.
