ICL to launch bio-based corrosion inhibitor at ECS 2025

Last update on Mar 17, 2025

ICL will be launching three new innovative and sustainable products at European Coatings Show 2025, to be held from March 25-27, 2025. Visit ICL in Hall 2 Booth 506, to learn more about the products and how they can enhance formulations.

Products at display

Solutions to be showcased at ECS 2025 include:

  • HALOX® 580: 50% bio-based, ultra-low VOC (0.5%), and a sustainable liquid corrosion inhibitor (LCI) for protection of waterborne and solvent-borne coatings. Being ecolabel-compliant, solvent-free, heavy metal-free, APEO-free, HAPS-free, it is suitable for acrylic, epoxy, urethane, and alkyd systems.
The targeted markets include DIY metal coatings, light duty protective coatings (C1-C4), architectural (siding), thin coatings needing barrier improvement, and much more. The organophosphate adsorbs on metal, provides great adhesion for long-term corrosion protection, and is totally label free. Recommended loading level is 0.5-3.0% based on total formula weight.
  • HALOX® FLASH-X® 152: Zero VOC flash rust inhibitor for architectural & industrial waterborne paints. It has dual functionality to stop 'general' flash rust and at the same time prevents 'galvanic' weld bead corrosion.
It is compatible with a variety of water-based resins without causing film sensitivity or package stability problems which can occur with other flash rust additives. It can be easily post-added or added in the letdown stage. Dosage to stop flash rust is 0.5-1.5% and dosage to stop galvanic corrosion is 1.0-2.0%.
  • HALOX® XTAIN® L-47: Ecolabel compliant liquid tannin stain blocker for industrial & architectural paints. Based on zirconium, it is a zinc-free, ammonia-free, volatile organic compound (VOC)-free liquid stain inhibiting additive designed to stop tannin bleed in various waterborne coating systems such as acrylic emulsions and PUD applied to a variety of wood species for example, redwood, merbau, and oak.
It provides similar efficiency as its predecessor HALOX® XTAIN® L-44. Recommended loading levels range from 1-3% based on total formula weight.
