Coating ingredients for Marine / Anti-Corrosive / Protective Coatings

SETALUX® 57-1587 by allnex is a hydroxyl-functional acrylic resin for 2K applications. It offers fast cure, long pot-life and low VOC formulation potential (2.1-3.5 lb/gal). It provides very good exterior durability, UV- and chemical resistance, and excellent overall performance properties.

• It is designed for topcoats, primers and single coat enamels for vehicle refinish and industrial applications.
• SETALUX® 57-1587 is a modifier for both acrylic and polyester urethane systems.
• It is suitable for maintenance-, marine-, metal- and plastic coatings.
• It has a shelf life of 3 years at temperatures up to 100°F.

DEGALAN® LP 64/12 distributed by DKSH is a versatile binder methacrylates. It exhibits weather- and chemical resistance and lightfastness.

• It is used in UV-printing inks, aerosol, marine & container coatings, primers, impregnations, exterior house-, masonry- and road marking paints.
It is blendable with alcohol and possesses good adhesion to various substrates such as plastics, paper, textiles and metal.
• It is also designed for penetrating primers, concrete- and protective coatings.
• It is compatible with most PVC copolymers, PS, PC, PMMA, ABS, ester-soluble nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber, plasticizer, cellulose acetobutyrates/ acetopropionate and partly compatible with alkyd and epoxy ester resins.
• It has a shelf life of 5 years.
• DEGALAN® LP 64/12 is available in Canada.

DEGALAN® 64/12 N distributed by DKSH is a granulated polymer based on methacrylates. It is versatile binder for concrete- and thick-layer metal coatings. It exhibits weather- and chemical resistance and lightfastness.

• It is used in marine & container coatings, primers, impregnations, exterior house- and road marking paints and plastic coatings.
• It is compatible with most PVC copolymers, nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber, plasticizer, cellulose acetobutyrates/acetopropionate and partly compatible with alkyd and epoxy ester resins.
• DEGALAN® 64/12 N has a shelf life of 5 years and is available in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

SETAL® 270 EHV WS-70 by allnex is an air drying long oil alkyd resin based on soyabean oils. Exhibits good color fastness, brushability, body and flow, good durability and good through hardening. Market applications of SETAL® 270 EHV WS-70 include architectural paints (finishes on wood and metal), for interior and exterior use, do-it-yourself paints, semi-gloss finishes, alkyd resin varnishes, wall paints. It is also used in boat & yacht coatings, structural steel paints and marine paints.

SETAL® 270 WS-70 by allnex is soyabean oil-based, air drying long oil alkyd resin. Offers low odor, good durability, good color fastness, brushability and flowability. SETAL® 270 WS-70 is used in architectural paints such as finishes on wood and metal, for interior and exterior use, do-it-yourself paints, semi-gloss finishes and wall paints. It is suitable for use in alkyd resin varnishes, boat and yacht coatings, structural steel paints and marine paints.

• SETALUX® 57-1612 has a shelf life of 3 years.

Bentone® 38 by Elementis is a highly efficient rheological modifier designed for use in low to intermediate polarity organic systems. It is an organic derivative of a hectorite clay.

• It increases viscosity, controls sagging on vertical surfaces, and penetration on porous substrates.
• It improves flow and leveling, prevents pigment settling during storage and syneresis in thixotropic systems.
• It is suitable for aerosol paints, anti-corrosive paints, automotive finishes and primers, coil coating systems, industrial paints, trichloroethylene dip coatings, and wood stains.
• It is used in interior and exterior house paints.
• Recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.5% for house and industrial paints.
• Bentone® 38 has a shelf life of 4 years.

SETALUX® D A 160 X by allnex is polyisocyanate cross-linking acrylic resin with 2.7% hydroxyl content on solid resin. It is used primarily in combination with Desmodur® N, in the formulation of two-component polyurethane coatings with good lightfastness and resistance to chalking.

• SETALUX® D A 160 X is used to formulate air- and force drying top coats as well as anti-corrosion coatings and topcoats for steel in civil and hydraulic engineering applications.
• It has a shelf life of 730 days from the date of manufacturing.

Borchi® OXY-Coat by Borchers (Milliken) is a high concentration, low-VOC, cobalt-free drier and metal-based catalyst. It improves drying activity, color performance, gloss and haze compared to cobalt-based driers in water- and solvent-based systems. It is suitable for high solids, composites and can be applied in multiple coats. It is based on a unique, patented and highly active iron complex.

• It offers improved adhesion in direct to metal applications.
• It extends the coatings season window by providing consistent curing performance in all weather conditions (hot or cold, dry or humid) for short, medium and long oil alkyd systems.
• It provides improved stain- and chemical resistance and lower gardner color numbers and can prevent wrinkles at higher film builds.
• It can be used in coatings for adverse weather conditions.
• It is recommended for all solvent-based coatings containing binders or resins that dry by oxidation including vegetable oils, epoxy esters and polybutadiene.
• Applications include wood flooring, architectural-, protective and marine coating.
• It is APEO-free, REACH and Proposition 65 compliant.
• The recommended dosage level of Borchi® OXY-Coat is 0.5-3%.

SETALUX® 1917 BA-80 by allnex is an acrylic polyol with 2.1% hydroxyl value (calculated on non-volatiles). It possesses fast drying, good adhesion and very good durability. SETALUX® 1917 BA-80 is designed for marine and protective two-component coatings.
