Coating ingredients for Letterpress / Newspaper Inks

MONARCH® 120 distributed by DKSH is a low structure, specialty, general purpose carbon black. It offers very blue undertone, excellent rub resistance, good viscosity and flow properties.

• It is used as a replacement for a variety of non-carbon black pigments.
• It is recommended for a variety of inks, web offset coldset and letterpress printing inks.
• It is suitable for coatings such as underbody/underhood automotive, general industrial and architectural applications where high jetness is not required.
• MONARCH® 120 is also recommended for use as a tinting black since the large particle size allows for high loading and helps to reduce problems with floating and flooding in liquid coating applications.
• It can be easily dispersed using a single screw extruder for powder coatings.
• It is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Myanmar.

BLACK PEARLS® 570 distributed by DKSH is a high structure general-purpose black pigment. It possesses better jetness with good dispersibility. It exhibits high color intensity with excellent dispersability.

• It is suitable for aqueous newspaper printing inks, flexographic inks, decorative-, industrial-, building products-, powder coatings and leather dispersions applications.
• BLACK PEARLS® 570 is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Myanmar.

Luna-nol C-12 distributed by DKSH is a water-based coalescent and retarder solvent. It can enhance the performance properties of the paint and shows good film forming properties.

• It is designed for use in coatings such as architectural, automotive OEM (electrodeposition primers) and can and floor polishes.
• It is suitable for general industrial-, industrial maintenance-, marine- and industrial wood- & transportation coating applications.
• It is recommended for emulsion polymer systems like latex paints, coil coatings and baking enamels.
• It can be used in graphic arts & printing inks (lithographic and letterpress oil-based inks).
• It is available in USA, Europe and Asia/Pacific regions.

BLACK PEARLS® 490 distributed by DKSH is a high structure, general purpose, regular color pigment black. It is usually used in aqueous dispersions. It is also available in an easier to disperse powdered form.

• It provides high color intensity with very good dispersibility.
• It is used for aqueous newspaper printing inks and for a broad field of liquid ink applications.
• BLACK PEARLS® 490 is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Myanmar.

MONARCH® 490 distributed by DKSH is a high structure regular utility carbon black grade. It provides good color intensity and very good dispersibility. It is used for water based flexographic inks, aqueous newspaper printing inks, and a broad field of liquid ink applications. MONARCH® 490 is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Myanmar.

Acetanil Yellow 5 GH 7414 C by Vibrantz Technologies (formerly Chromaflo) is a transparent yellow organic pigment. It offers excellent gloss, good light fastness and dispersibility. Acetanil Yellow 5 GH 7414 C is suitable for solvent-, oil and water-based flexo- and letterpress inks.

DOWSIL™ 29 Additive distributed by DKSH acts as a wetting, flow and levelling agent. It is a carbinol functional silicone glycol surfactant used to provide leveling and wetting and improve gloss. It increases mar resistance and is effective at low concentrations.

• It shows compatibility with acrylic, epoxy, polyesters and urethane systems and can prevent pigment flotation.
• It is suitable for water-based letterpress ink, solvent-based flexographic inks, solvent-based coil coating and overprint varnishes.
• Recommended usage level is 0.2-1.0 weight percent, based upon total formulation.
• It is used in architectural and decorative applications, printing inks, can, coil and industrial coatings, and automotive paints.
• The shelf life of DOWSIL™ 29 Additive is 30 months.
• It is available in APAC region (New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, China).

MONARCH® 430 distributed by DKSH is a low structure utility, general purpose, regular color, carbon black pigment. It provides excellent rub resistance, good viscosity and flow properties.

• It is suitable for a variety of pigmenting applications.
• As a fluffy product, MONARCH® 430 is easier to disperse than its pelleted equivalent.
• It is recommended for variety of inks, particularly suitable for web offset coldset and letterpress printing inks and broad field of liquid ink applications.
• It is available in Belgium, Luxembourg, Myanmar, Netherlands and New Zealand.
