Coating ingredients for Gravure Inks

EBECRYL® 578 by allnex is an inert resin diluted in trimethylolpropane ethoxylate triacrylate (TMPEOTA). It possesses medium viscosity, and is VOC-, chloride- and solvent-free. It is developed for ultraviolet light (UV) or electron beam (EB) cured offset lithographic inks and coating.

• It provides good adhesion to various substrate such as metallic and plastic materials.
• It exhibits good pigment wetting and high reactivity and cure speed, and low color for clearcoat.
• EBECRYL® 578 is used in other applications such as screen, gravure, flexo and overprint varnish.
• It has a shelf life of 2 years.

EBECRYL® 600/30DP by allnex is a di-functional epoxy acrylate diluted with 30% of dipropyleneglycol diacrylate (DPGDA).This resin is characterized by its light color, low irritancy and fast cure response.

• EBECRYL® 600/30DP is recommended for screen inks, lithographic, gravure, direct or reverse roll, overprint varnishes, curtain coating, paper upgrading and coatings for wood, cardboard, chipboard and rigid plastics.
• UV/EB cured films exhibit high surface hardness and gloss, low residual odor and excellent solvent resistance.
• The shelf life of this grade is 2 years.

EBECRYL® 367 by allnex is a low VOC, solvent-free polyester acrylate designed to be used at additive levels in UV/EB inks and coatings to improve adhesion onto plastic substrates.

• It is bisphenol A (BPA)-, tin- free grade and offers low viscosity and low acidity.
• It exhibits low migration, long pot life, low color for clearcoat, faster cycle time, lower energy consumption and low flammability.
• It is suitable for use in radiation curable coating compositions, white flexographic inks, paints and overprint varnishes.
• It may be applied by flexography, inkjet and gravure, direct and reverse roll.
• The typical addition level is 10% by weight or more.
• The shelf life of EBECRYL® 367 is 6 months.

EBECRYL® 11 by allnex is a polyethylene glycol diacrylate derivative. It is 100% water soluble characterized by low viscosity and low color. It offers good flexibility and low water resistance. It is recommended for use in screen inks, wood applications and paper coatings. Formulated UV/EB curable products containing EBECRYL® 11 may be applied by lithographic, screen, gravure, direct or reverse roll, and curtain coating methods. The shelf life of the grade is 2 years.

Sasolwax H1N4-G distributed by DKSH is a (ground wax) micronized FT hardwax. It possesses slip-, enhanced scratch- and rub resistance. Exhibits good overprint ability in flexographic, gravure- and paste inks.

• It provides hydrophobicity as well as surface protection in wood coatings.
• It is suitable for degassing and pin hole reduction in powder coating.
• Sasolwax H1N4-G is available in Europe.

MARNEX™ AH448 by Macroocean is a high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It shows excellent adhesive strength to steel, aluminum foil, PET or PVC films. Also, better adhesion and film strength can be achieved while cross-linked with melamine or blocked isocyanate curing agents. This grade offers heat seal properties, flexibility, good processibility and no sticky problem during transportation. It can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, such as isophorone, acetone, MEK, CYC, DBE & EA. And it is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#. MARNEX™ AH448 is recommended for interior can coating and screen printing & gravure inks. It complies with FDA 175.300 (only for non-alcoholic goods) and 175.105. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

MARNEX™ AH651 by Macroocean is a high molecular weight, saturated linear polyester resin. It shows excellent adhesive strength to steel and PET or PVC films. It offers heat seal properties, excellent pigment wetting and heat resistance. Also, offers better flexibility and adhesion is available while using with low Tg types of resin, such as MARNEX™ AL171 and MARNEX™ AL072. It can be dissolved in ketone, ether or esters type of solvents, such as isophorone, acetone, MEK, CYC, DBE & EA. And it is usually dissolved with aromatic solvents, such as 100# & 150#. MARNEX™ AH651 is used in coil coatings and gravure & screen printing inks. It complies with FDA 175.300 (only for non-alcoholic goods) and 175.105. The shelf life of this product is 24 months.

EBECRYL® 441 by allnex is a highly reactive, chlorinated, bisphenol-A-free polyester resin. It offers improved ink-water balance and lower misting. Exhibits good pigment wetting and dispersion characteristics and is useful as a pigment grinding resin in lithographic ink formulations. It can be diluted with reactive monomers like HDDA, TMPTA, TPGDA and OTA 480. It is designed for screen, gravure inks and flexographic printing. UV curing inks produced with EBECRYL® 441 offers high reactivity and excellent adhesion to plastic, metal and paper substrates.

EBECRYL® 145 by allnex is Xi-free aliphatic difunctional acrylate of low surface tension. Propoxylated neopentyl glycol diacrylate exhibits good viscosity reducing and solvency characteristics in UV/EB curable formulations. It is also an effective monomer for developing low viscosity and low volatility coatings and inks. During formulating it provides pigment wetting and flow & leveling properties. It also offers minimum film shrinkage, reactivity, weatherability, water & chemical resistance, flexibility, hardness and abrasion resistance. EBECRYL® 145 is recommended for clear & pigmented coatings, over print varnishes and liquid inks (flexography, lithography, inkjet & gravure). The shelf life of the product is 2 years.

EBECRYL® 1900 by allnex is an UV/ ESH dual cure hard coat melamine adhesion promoter. It is developed for coating application on wood, paper and foil substates. It exhibits excellent scratch resistance, solvent resistance, high gloss, high surface hardness and good weathering resistance.

• It is characterized by medium-low viscosity and fast cure response with outstanding adhesion performance to melamine surfaces (HPL, CPL and similar processes).
• It is a low VOC, low color, non-yellowing, tin-, bisphenol A-, and solvent-free technology grade.
• It has reduced energy consumption and low residual formaldehyde content.
• Formulated UV/EB curable products containing EBECRYL® 1900 may be applied via brush, roller, direct or reverse roll, offset gravure, metering rod, slot die, knife over roll, air knife, curtain, immersion and spin coating methods, as well as screen printing.
• It is used in scratch and abrasion resistant coatings (hardcoats).
• It has a shelf life of 1 year.
