Lauryl Methacrylate 1214 F (LMA 1214 F) by BASF is a water insoluble, low volatile, monofunctional methacrylate monomer with long, linear hydrophobic side chains. It is a mixture and blend of natural C12, C14 and C16 alcohol methacrylates. It imparts hydrophobicity, low shrinkage, flexibility, water resistance, weatherability, adhesion and improved impact strength to polymers. It forms homopolymers and copolymers which can be prepared with acrylic acid (& its salts), amides, esters, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils. Lauryl Methacrylate 1214 F (LMA 1214 F) readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds, hence it is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses. Used in adhesives, low temperature caulks and sealants. Lauryl Methacrylate 1214 (LMA 1214) by BASF is a monofunctional methacrylic monomer with a long chain hydrophobic pendant group forms homopolymers and copolymers. Its copolymers can be prepared with acrylic acid and its salts, amides and esters, and with methacrylate, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils, etc. It readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds, therefore is found to be very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses. Lauryl Methacrylate 1214 (LMA 1214) is also used in used in textile and metal coatings, paint, varnishes, low temperature caulks and sealants. It is listed on REACH, TSCA, DSL, CHEMINV, IECSC, AICS, ENCS, ISHL, ECL, NZIOC, PICCS, NECSI inventory.
