Zikasorb® -R

Supplied byZIKO- Last Updated on Feb 22, 2013

N-(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)-N'-methyl-N'-phenylformamidine. Acts as formamidine type UV absorber. It provides ease of handling and incorporation. Zikasorb® -R allows automatic dosage and shortening of mixing time which results in the increased productivity. It shows the highest UV absorbance in the range between 300 and 330nm, the most damaging area where polyurethane is most severely attacked. It absorbs UV rays instead of the absorption edge of high molecules and thus blocking the mechanism for high-molecular photo-oxidation at its source. The absorbed UV rays are emitted in the form of harmless thermal energy (IR rays). Most additives are strongly challenged when facing the high temperature curing process but it stands up to the heat above 200?. In fact, in the process requiring high temperature around and above 250? it is strongly challenged. However, if the processing time is not significantly long, the thermal degradation of this additive is expected to be minimal. Its dosage for shoe soles is 0.8~0.9 wt. %, synthetic leather is 0.3~0.5 wt. %, thermoplastic polyurethane is 0.3~0.8 wt. % and sealant is 0.3~0.5 wt. %.
